Jakarta, 21 April, 2026 — The Vice Minister of Creative Economy/Vice Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, discussed strategic collaboration opportunities to strengthen the digital media ecosystem as a safe space for women during an audience meeting with digital media platform Magdalene.co. She highlighted the momentum of Kartini Day as an important step in reaffirming the role of women as key drivers in the creative industry and social development.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, received an audience with digital media outlet Magdalene.co at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (April 21, 2026).
“Indonesia needs more safe spaces for dialogue, such as Magdalene, to discuss issues like mental health and family dynamics. This allows people not only to understand these issues, but also to connect and find solutions together,” she stated during the meeting at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Tuesday (April 21).
Founded 13 years ago, Magdalene emerged from the need for more comprehensive representation of women in the media. It consistently highlights issues such as gender-based violence, diversity, and social inequality to promote a more inclusive and equitable society. Magdalene operates under PT Citra Puan Berdikari, a legal entity engaged in journalistic work and media production.
In line with the spirit of Kartini Day, the Vice Minister also emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing a community-based creative economy, including empowering women through inclusive narratives. The meeting marked an initial step toward exploring concrete partnerships, including public campaigns, participation in forums and festivals, and capacity-building initiatives for creative industry players.
“We see media as playing a key role in shaping public perspectives, including toward the creative economy sector. Through collaboration with Magdalene, we hope to expand digital literacy outreach and deliver content that is not only relevant but also impactful, particularly in strengthening the role of women in the digital era,” she added.

Magdalene also introduced several strategic programs for 2026, including Sisterhood Festival, Pesta Literasi, Equality Talk, and Women Lead Forum, scheduled for September to November 2026. These initiatives were identified as having strong potential for synergy with the Ministry, particularly in strengthening value-based creative content and enhancing public digital literacy.
“Magdalene exists to highlight issues affecting women and vulnerable groups. We not only present problems but also offer solution-oriented perspectives that drive more inclusive social change,” she explained.
The Ministry of Creative Economy welcomed these initiatives and expressed readiness to collaborate in strengthening digital literacy with broad societal impact. The Vice Minister hopes that this discussion will expand outreach and foster content that is both relevant and impactful, particularly in empowering women in the digital landscape.
Through a hexahelix collaboration approach, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting creative industry players through strengthened programs and policies, aligning with Magdalene’s vision to deliver tangible impact for the media industry and a more inclusive society.
