Commemorating HANI 2026, Minister of Creative Economy Positions Creative Economy as a Shield for the Younger Generation

Bogor, 22 July 2026 – Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Djamari Chaniago, led the commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (HANI) 2026 at the BNN Lido Rehabilitation Center, Bogor Regency, West Java, Wednesday (22/7). In his remarks, the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs stated that combating drugs is a national strategic commitment to realizing the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, attended the commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (HANI) 2026 at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Lido Rehabilitation Center, Bogor, Thursday (23/7/2026).

Therefore, the Government will continue to protect the younger generation from the threat of illicit substance abuse, including by strengthening the role of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), enhancing prevention and early detection, and fostering cross-ministerial collaboration in addressing the evolving modus operandi of narcotics-related crimes and the emergence of new types of narcotics (NPS/New Psychoactive Substances).

“Let me reiterate, combating drugs is an absolute prerequisite for realizing Golden Indonesia 2045, representing a firm national political and strategic commitment,” said Djamari Chaniago.

At the same event, Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, said that his attendance was a follow-up to a meeting with the BNN on 9 June 2026 to expand education and mitigate narcotics-related risks, while reaffirming the creative economy sector’s commitment to protecting the younger generation.

“Providing positive and productive spaces for self-expression is essential for young people so that they can stay away from the dangers of narcotics abuse. The development of the creative ecosystem is increasingly crucial, considering that the creative economy now serves as a new engine of national economic growth that can effectively protect and channel the potential of the younger generation,” said Teuku Riefky.

The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency and the BNN are committed to strengthening collaboration in preventing and combating narcotics through research, human resource development, outreach activities at Creative Hubs, the development of educational content, and entrepreneurship programs for young people across the seven priority creative economy subsectors.

Youth involvement is considered key, as Generation Z and Millennials account for 63 percent of the workforce in the creative sector. Through productive spaces for creative expression, the creative economy is expected to help protect young people from narcotics abuse.

“The creative economy offers young people a path to prove themselves and achieve success through their talents and tangible creative works. By fostering a healthy creative environment, we can keep them away from the dangers of narcotics,” added the Minister of Creative Economy.

The BNN has established the theme for International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (HANI) 2026: “Building a Healthy, Smart, and Strong Generation Through the Ananda Bersinar Movement Toward Golden Indonesia 2045.” The theme underscores the importance of strengthening the younger generation’s resilience against the threat of narcotics through preventive efforts involving cross-sectoral collaboration as a foundation for realizing Golden Indonesia 2045.

“Efforts to prevent and combat narcotics must go beyond law enforcement. We must also work together to build the resilience of the younger generation so that they can avoid the grip of drugs from an early age. Through cross-sectoral collaboration, we can address the root causes of socioeconomic problems while providing productive and meaningful life choices for the future of the nation's children,” emphasized Head of the BNN, Commissioner General of Police Suyudi Ario Seto.
