Creative Economy Continues to Grow, Deputy Minister Invites Global Investors to Invest in Indonesia’s Creative Economy

Jakarta, July 8, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) continues to strengthen the development of Indonesia’s creative economy through a range of strategic initiatives, including expanding access to financing and investment, fostering startups and the digital ecosystem, and accelerating the country’s digital economic transformation. These priorities were highlighted by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar during her keynote address at Finance 2045, organized by Trescon Global in Jakarta on Wednesday (July 8).

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar speaks at Finance 2045, organized by Trescon Global, at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta, Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

In her presentation titled “Creative Economy as Indonesia's Next Investable Growth Engine,” Irene emphasized that while Indonesia’s creative economy has tremendous growth potential, it remains structurally under-capitalized. As such, she noted that the sector represents a promising new asset class for global investors.

“At the Ministry of Creative Economy, we are committed to strengthening the financial infrastructure by promoting the securitization of intellectual property within the global banking sector. This innovative approach introduces new valuation mechanisms that enable financial institutions to assess creative assets—whether they are already generating revenue or still exist as copyrights or original designs—making it easier for creative entrepreneurs to access financing and scale their businesses,” said Irene.

Held under the theme “Bridging Global Capital to Indonesia’s Digital Boom,” Finance 2045 serves as a collaborative platform that brings together government representatives, investors, and industry leaders to strengthen access to capital while expanding investment opportunities in Indonesia’s creative economy.

Confidence in the sector’s investment potential is reinforced by the continued growth of creative economy investment. By the third quarter of 2025, total realized investment in the creative economy reached IDR 132.04 trillion, accounting for approximately 9 percent of Indonesia’s total national investment and achieving 97 percent of the annual target. Meanwhile, creative economy Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth reached 5.54 percent by the end of 2025, surpassing the government’s target of 5.3 percent.

“To sustain this momentum, the Ministry is not only focused on improving access to capital but is also working to resolve international payment challenges faced by Indonesian creators through the expansion of QRIS overseas. We are also leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain to strengthen copyright protection for local creative works while making it easier for Indonesian creative products to enter global markets,” the Deputy Minister added.

Trescon Global, a Dubai-based international business events organizer, hosted Finance 2045 as a platform for connecting governments, financial institutions, and investors. Through its participation, the Ministry of Creative Economy aims to strengthen partnerships with global investors, financial institutions, and strategic partners to unlock broader financing opportunities for Indonesia’s creative economy while accelerating its growth as a new engine of the national economy.
