Jakarta, July 17, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency commended the achievement of the Indonesian film Rencana Besar untuk Mati dengan Tenang (My Own Last Supper), which has been officially selected for the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) 2026. Produced through a collaboration between Matta Cinema Production and Ruang Basbeth Bercerita, the film explores the dynamics of a Chinese-Indonesian family that has experienced the trauma of ethnic identity, while highlighting the importance of social harmony.

“Congratulations on the achievement of this Indonesian film, which portrays life from the perspectives of children, adults, and parents through compelling cinematic storytelling. With its high-quality narrative, Rencana Besar untuk Mati dengan Tenang certainly has the competitiveness to reach international audiences,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar following the preview screening at XXI Agora Mall, Jakarta, on Friday (July 17).
Echoing this sentiment, Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka stated that the film presents a family story that closely reflects everyday life while conveying universal humanitarian values, further strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian cinema on the global stage.
“My Own Last Supper carries a profound message about family. Audiences will follow the life journey of someone who faces difficult circumstances yet perseveres. Ultimately, the film reminds us to return to the importance of family while offering many valuable life lessons through the family dynamics it portrays,” said Isyana.

The film is adapted from the novel of the same title by Wisnu Suryaning Adji, published by Bentang Pustaka. Deputy Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan noted that the film’s powerful storytelling successfully conveys the values of family and humanity in a deeply moving way.
“After watching the film, we can better understand the inner conflicts experienced by each character. There is a father who has lost his wife, and we also witness the emotional struggles of the children as they navigate the challenges within a Chinese-Indonesian family,” Veronica Tan added.
Meanwhile, the producer of Rencana Besar untuk Mati dengan Tenang, Nugroho Dewanto, explained that the film portrays the story of a Chinese-Indonesian family as a reflection of a life enriched by diversity and togetherness. Despite the psychological and political trauma experienced by its central character, the film invites audiences to reflect on Indonesia’s humanitarian history.
“We felt it was important to make this film because we wanted to portray the lives of Chinese-Indonesian families as something natural—living side by side with people from diverse backgrounds. We hope Rencana Besar untuk Mati dengan Tenang serves as a reminder that the dark chapters of our history should never be repeated and that society recognizes we are all fundamentally the same,” said Nugroho Dewanto.
The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to strengthening Indonesia’s film ecosystem by supporting original works, expanding international networks, and broadening access to global markets. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the film, animation, and video subsector recorded the highest growth among creative economy subsectors in 2025, reaching 17.59 percent.

“We encourage the public to watch My Own Last Supper, or Rencana Besar untuk Mati dengan Tenang, as a way of supporting the Indonesian film industry,” the Deputy Minister concluded.
Also attending the preview screening were Special Staff for Creative Economy Ecosystem Strengthening and Data Jago Anggara; Chairperson of Eka Tjipta Foundation, Secretary of the Indonesian Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, and Chief Executive Officer of DAAI TV Indonesia Hong Tjhin; My Own Last Supper producer Lyza Anggraheni; and cast representatives of Rencana Besar untuk Mati dengan Tenang, namely Verdi Solaiman, Melissa Karim, and Jessy Davita.
