Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Commends “Home Sweet Loan: The Musical” for Promoting IP Commercialization

Jakarta, October 4, 2026 – From novel to big screen, and now musical drama, “Home Sweet Loan” has captured the public’s attention. Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Wamen Ekraf), Irene Umar, praised the performance of Home Sweet Loan The Musical at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta, which serves as a true representation of the success of media adaptation and the expansion of Intellectual Property (IP) in the national creative industry.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, appreciates Home Sweet Loan The Musical for promoting IP commercialization at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta, Sunday (4/10/2026).

“A message for all the fighters out there: ‘know your boundaries and know yourself.’ The portrayal of ‘financial planning’ in this production is very important because, for me, Indonesia desperately needs that ‘financial planning,’” Irene said on Sunday (October 5).

Adapted from a popular novel by Almira Bastari, whose film adaptation (2024) has successfully drawn 1.7 million viewers, this production offers a fresh experience through a blend of storytelling, music, and choreography. The story of Kaluna, who strives to leave her parents’ home in search of a safe space and a place of her own, also explores the quest for the meaning of home and a place to feel whole.

Furthermore, Irene emphasized that Home Sweet Loan’s transformation from the publishing and film sectors to its current expansion into the performing arts and music sectors demonstrates the immense potential of IP commercialization in creating an inclusive and sustainable creative economy ecosystem. Irene believes Home Sweet Loan conveys a message relevant to society, particularly regarding the importance of self-awareness and not forgetting self-love.

“Home Sweet Loan serves as proof that through collaboration, creative economy pioneers can continue to pursue IP commercialization, which not only showcases new works but also generates sustainable economic impact,” added Irene.

The run of Home Sweet Loan The Musical is scheduled to feature 23 performances from September 30 through October 18, 2026. This production features 18 original songs and distinctive choreography, including the song “Tepuk Waras,” which reflects the dynamics of urban life.

Through this production, the Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to supporting creative economy practitioners in expanding the scale of IP-based businesses, creating new jobs in the performing arts sector, and strengthening the value chain of Indonesia’s creative economy.
