Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Encourages Local Art Toys to Become Valuable Intellectual Property Assets

Jakarta, 20 June 2026 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, visited the Amazing Toys Show 2026 as part of the government's commitment to accelerating the growth of Indonesia’s art toy industry. The Deputy Minister encouraged the industry to transform art toys into high-value intellectual property (IP) assets capable of competing in the global market.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar visited Amazing Toys Show 2026, held at the Main Atrium (Ground Floor) of Gandaria City, Jakarta, on Saturday (20 June 2026).

Art toys are a clear example of how creativity can be developed into an economic asset. A character should not stop at being a visual creation; it can possess a story and identity that evolve into valuable intellectual property. We want to see more Indonesian creators confidently bringing their works to a broader stage,” said the Deputy Minister during her visit to Amazing Toys Show 2026, held at the Main Atrium (Ground Floor) of Gandaria City, Jakarta, on Saturday (20/6).

The Deputy Minister added that the presence of Amazing Toys Show in Indonesia serves as an important opportunity to introduce the works of local creators to a wider audience while opening avenues for engagement with international industry players. According to her, many creations by Indonesian toy designers have strong potential to gain wider recognition overseas.

“This is an opportunity for all of us to see that Indonesian toy designers also have works that deserve international recognition. When we connect with creators from different countries, we are not only sharing our creations but also building new relationships that can lead to even greater opportunities,” she added.

Amazing Toys Show Jakarta 2026 is an international art toy exhibition and festival originating from Hong Kong, held for the first time in Indonesia from 18–21 June 2026 at Gandaria City Mall. The event features more than 100 works by local and international artists across 34 exhibition booths, showcasing a wide range of creative intellectual properties from various countries.

Founder of Amazing Toys Show, Jackie Lok, stated that Jakarta serves as a strategic meeting point for artists from different countries to exchange ideas and inspiration. He explained that the event provides a platform where artists, collectors, and communities from diverse backgrounds can come together and share their creativity.

“This is not only about toys; it is about a collection of creativity from different countries and different people. We share our works, share happiness, and create a platform where everyone can come together,” said Jackie Lok.

During her visit, the Deputy Minister toured several exhibition booths and explored various art toy creations by both local and international artists participating in the event. Through initiatives such as Amazing Toys Show, the Ministry of Creative Economy continues to strengthen the development of Indonesian intellectual property, enabling it to grow and compete within the global creative industry.
