Jakarta, August 1, 2026 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, commended more than 200 curated local creative economy champions participating in The Local Market ID: Pasar Wiwitan SCBD. The Deputy Minister conveyed this aspiration while officially opening The Local Market ID: Pasar Wiwitan SCBD at SCBD Park, Jakarta, on Saturday (August 1). According to her, the sustainability of creative markets is essential to provide creative economy champions with a consistent platform to showcase their works while reaching broader markets.

"This inaugural edition of The Local Market at SCBD will become a monthly event, held on the first weekend of every month from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. over two days. This serves as a platform for Indonesia's creative economy champions, who need a stage to showcase what they have created. It will become a movement that continues every month, where The Local Market stage will be utilized by our creative economy champions," said Irene Umar.

The Deputy Minister added that The Local Market is not merely a place for commercial transactions but also a space for interaction between creators and the public. She noted that every creative product carries a story born from the creativity and dedication of its maker, making this connection an added value that strengthens the competitiveness of local products.

"Indonesian products are not only of excellent quality, but many have also gained international recognition. Let us start with ourselves by choosing to buy and use local products," she said.

The Local Market ID: Pasar Wiwitan SCBD adopts a creative market concept based on the hexahelix collaboration model, bringing together the government, creative product curators, public space providers, and creative economy champions within a single ecosystem. Organized by PT Ku Ka Aku Suka (The Local Market ID), the event serves as a platform to promote local products while celebrating creativity and preserving Indonesia's cultural heritage.

Deputy Minister for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, stated that cross-sector collaboration initiatives such as Pasar Wiwitan provide a platform that not only strengthens the marketing of local products but also promotes women's empowerment and creates family-friendly public spaces.

"Local products actually have outstanding quality, but they often lack opportunities to introduce themselves to the public. Through collaborations like this, they are given room to grow. For us, events like this also serve as a form of women's empowerment while creating spaces where families can gather, enjoy, and appreciate products made by the nation's creative talents," added Veronica Tan.

Located in the open green space of SCBD Park, stretching 240 meters along one corridor and 127 meters along another, The Local Market: Pasar Wiwitan presents a large-scale street market concept in the heart of Jakarta's business district. Featuring a diverse range of creative products, culinary offerings, artisan goods, and cultural performances, the market is designed to become a weekend destination as well as a new home for Indonesia's creative MSMEs.

"Pasar Wiwitan symbolizes a new beginning. We hope it becomes the new home for The Local Market while serving as a meaningful program for Indonesian MSMEs. Starting now, this event will be held on the first weekend of every month, providing a consistent platform for Indonesia's creative products," said Founder of The Local Market, Titonius Karto.

During the event, the Deputy Minister visited a number of tenants representing various creative economy subsectors, including Punopals, Batik Saraswati, Oentukmu, La Vida Home, Neu Men, KASI Living, Saiya, KAINARA, Damdam Ceramics, and many others. One of the curated participants selected through the Ministry of Creative Economy's Open Call, Ashraf Fauzan Ramdhani of the Bandung-based fashion brand Neu Men, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity provided through The Local Market. The brand used the event to expand its market by showcasing men's apparel that incorporates batik into contemporary casual fashion.

"This is our first time participating in a Ministry of Creative Economy program through The Local Market. I hope there will be more initiatives like this that help MSMEs grow from a marketing perspective, enabling local brands to develop further and gain wider public recognition," said Ashraf.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by Director of Culinary Romi Astuti; Head of the Architecture and Design Marketing, Export, and Commercialization Subdirectorate Trio Dewangga and Dessy Widowati. Also in attendance were Artha Graha Group owner Tomy Winata and Artha Graha Vice President Director Christina Harapan.
