The appreciation was conveyed as the Deputy Minister attended Jakarta Sneaker Day (JSD) in Blok M, South Jakarta, on Saturday (August 1). Her presence reaffirmed the Ministry of Creative Economy's commitment to supporting the growth of Indonesia's fashion and sneaker industries so they can become increasingly competitive and expand into global markets.
"We provide this support so that Indonesia's creative products will not only become champions in their own country, but also gain greater confidence to compete in international markets," said Irene Umar.
According to data from the Ministry of Creative Economy, the fashion subsector remains the largest contributor to creative economy exports, accounting for 58.55 percent, valued at USD 5.85 billion, an increase from the previous period's USD 5.58 billion. Beyond its export performance, the fashion subsector also contributed 14.77 percent to the creative economy's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), recording a growth rate of 5.07 percent.

These achievements further underscore the strategic role of the fashion subsector as one of the primary drivers of Indonesia's creative economy. For the Ministry of Creative Economy, fashion is not merely about trends or style, but also a medium for strengthening cultural identity, creating added value, generating employment opportunities, and promoting inclusive economic growth.
"Collaboration between communities and the creative industry at JSD is essential to accelerating the national fashion ecosystem. We are optimistic that the innovation of Indonesia's young generation will become a key driving force of the future creative economy. We hope more people will come, discover, support, and provide opportunities for local creative businesses to grow," the Deputy Minister added.
JSD has served as a creative platform since 2016. This year, it once again presents its largest cultural takeover across the Blok M district in South Jakarta from July 31 to August 2, 2026, featuring a creative marketplace, music performances, and fashion activities driven by local communities.

The festival offers a multi-experience concept spread across 10 zones and 10 venues throughout the Blok M area, supported by more than 40 food and beverage partners. Since 2017, JSD has attracted more than 150,000 visitors, and now offers a single General Festival Pass that provides access to the lifestyle market, music concerts, and the festival's night market.
"We sincerely appreciate the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy for visiting and consistently supporting JSD over the years. This year, with a larger festival area, local brands account for as much as 90 percent of participating exhibitors, positioning Indonesia as one of the countries with the highest number of local brands in Southeast Asia," said Albie Trisura, Festival Director of JSD Blok M Festival.
