Jakarta, 5 February 2026 – The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, underscored the importance of strengthening the creative ecosystem across regions. The momentum of the creative economy emerging from local areas is expected to become the backbone of regional economic growth, extending to the national and even international levels.
The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience with the Government of Banjarbaru City at the Office of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Jakarta, on Thursday (5/2/2026).
“The Ministry of Creative Economy will increasingly focus on activities that support the Creative Economy’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), so as to generate significant and continuously growing added value,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya during a meeting with the Government of Banjarbaru City held at Autograph Tower on Thursday, 5 February 2026.
At the beginning of 2026, Banjarbaru also inaugurated its Creative Economy Committee as a strategic step to build a more structured, collaborative, and sustainable creative economy ecosystem. The Banjarbaru Creative Economy Committee is expected to serve as a driving force for leading regional creative sectors through community-based innovation.
“Through networking with the Banjarbaru Regional Government and the Creative Economy Committee, we can further strengthen collaboration and communication toward the development of Banjarbaru as a Creative City,” added Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya.

Collaboration with the Ministry of Creative Economy will be pursued through creative economy mapping and database development (database mapping). Through this approach, data collection on creative economy practitioners across the 17 subsectors can be integrated into government assistance programs, training initiatives, and facilitation efforts in a more targeted and effective manner.
“The task of the Ministry of Creative Economy together with regional governments is to curate which creative economy practitioners can be elevated from local heroes to the national level and further advanced from national champions to the global stage. Through this process, they can gain access to People’s Business Credit (KUR) or investors through appropriate business financing aligned with the right market,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya.
At the same event, the Special Staff to the Minister for Strategic Issues and Inter-Institutional Affairs of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Rian Syaf, presented the 17 creative economy subsectors grouped into four clusters, including seven nationally prioritized subsectors. The discussion also covered challenges and development strategies for the creative economy through the establishment of relevant creative economy institutional nomenclature at the regional level, as well as the Ministry of Creative Economy’s flagship programs for 2026 aimed at achieving targets for investment, exports, and employment absorption.

“It is our hope that all regional heads will recognize the importance of establishing creative economy nomenclature so that the spirit of the creative economy can thrive more strongly in the regions. This year, it is expected that 30 provinces and 89 regencies/cities will have creative economy nomenclature, either integrated with relevant agencies or established as independent entities,” expressed Rian Syaf.
To accommodate the growth of the creative industry, the Government of Banjarbaru City has enacted Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 1 of 2023 on Creative Economy Development. This regulation aims to provide legal certainty, facilitation, and comprehensive policy direction for the 17 creative economy subsectors in Banjarbaru.
“We have prepared a roadmap for Banjarbaru toward becoming a Creative City. Praise be to God, today’s audience was well received and successfully aligned in a linear manner with the support of programs from the Ministry of Creative Economy that can be collaboratively implemented with the City of Banjarbaru,” said Narwanto, Daily Chair of the Banjarbaru Creative Economy Committee.
“The objective of establishing the Creative Economy Committee is to accelerate and orchestrate all existing creative economy potential in Banjarbaru. All elements of the hexahelix must work together and collaborate in developing the creative economy through the Creative City initiative, particularly focusing on three prominent subsectors, namely crafts, culinary, and fashion,” added Narwanto.
