Kahitna’s 40th Anniversary Concert Marks Momentum for Strengthening Indonesia’s Music Ecosystem

Jakarta, September 5, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) continues to promote the music subsector as one of the drivers of the creative economy through concerts and performances featuring Indonesia’s music talents. This was conveyed by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, while attending Kahitna’s 40th Anniversary Concert at NICE PIK 2, Jakarta, Saturday (5/9).

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, attended Kahitna’s 40th Anniversary Concert at NICE PIK 2, Jakarta, Saturday (5/9/2026).

“Kahitna’s 40th Anniversary Concert demonstrates that the music subsector not only presents works that can be enjoyed, but also has significant economic strength behind it. A single concert involves a broad creative ecosystem, including musicians, concert promoters, Event Organizer (EO) workers, sound engineers, lighting designers, stage managers, stage crews, and other supporting creative talents. This is a real example of creative works capable of generating multiplied economic value,” said the Deputy Minister after watching the concert.

According to her, the more high-quality music concerts held in Indonesia, the greater the opportunities for talents in this subsector to develop, create business opportunities, and generate employment that has an impact on other creative economy subsectors.

Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) for August 2025 show that workers in the music subsector were predominantly millennials at 41.62 percent, followed by Generation Z at 33.61 percent and Generation X at 20.87 percent.

“We see Kahitna’s 40th Anniversary Concert as an important part of strengthening the music subsector ecosystem by fostering a sense of passion among talents across generations. When a concert is able to attract thousands of audiences, it is not only the music industry that moves, but also various economic activities surrounding it,” the Deputy Minister continued.

The Deputy Minister added that the Ministry of Creative Economy continues to promote the creation of a healthy music ecosystem so that Indonesian works and talents have room to grow while generating economic impact through various collaboration opportunities.

Carrying the spirit of “Di Antara Takkan Tergantinya Cantik & Titik Nadir Mantan Terindah,” the concert featured cross-generational collaborations with Arsy Widianto, Monita Tahalea, Nikita Becker, Tiara Andini, RAN, as well as a special appearance by Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Dardak. Attended by approximately 20,000 Soulmates, the concert demonstrated that musical works that endure across generations can continue to be activated through performances and collaborations, while also creating a multiplier effect across the creative economy ecosystem.
