Jakarta, September 2, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed his appreciation for the Art for Peace and a Better Future: Collaboration painting exhibition presented by the SBY Art Community (SAC). The Minister of Creative Economy said that the exhibition, held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, has provided a space for artists to reflect on and respond to recent natural disasters through the visual arts subsector.

“We express our appreciation to the SBY Art Community and the artists involved. Through the works on display, the artists convey their responses and reflections on the current global situation. These ideas can then be enjoyed and understood by the public, particularly audiences in Jakarta, through the language of art,” said Teuku Riefky, Wednesday (2/9).
The exhibition was held from August 18–30, 2026, at the Emiria Soenassa and Oesman Effendi Galleries, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, as well as at ASHTA District 8 SCBD. SAC, established from the initiative of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), aims to advance Indonesia’s visual arts while serving as a catalyst for global solidarity and justice. The community operates on three main pillars: conflict resolution and peace, the promotion of humanity, and environmental sustainability.
The exhibition was supported by the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Jakarta Provincial Government, Kornfeld Galerie Berlin, the Ministry of Culture, and various arts and cultural partners. This cross-institutional support reaffirms the collective commitment to advancing Jakarta as an international visual arts hub.
“We hope that the collaboration within the SBY Art Community will continue to grow and create more opportunities for Indonesian artists to create and build networks at the international level,” added the Minister of Creative Economy.

Curated by Gie Sanjaya, the exhibition presented 150 curated paintings, comprising 52 works by SBY, 29 works by Christopher Lehmpfuhl, 63 works by SBY Art Community artists, five works by young artists, and one collaborative work. The exhibition brought together the artistic expressions of visual artists from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, ISI Solo, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Jakarta Institute of the Arts (IKJ), as well as independent practitioners.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was Greener World, No More Choice by Akbar Linggaprana, measuring 200 x 300 cm, which combines surrealist landscapes of forests and oceans as a reflection of concerns over the environmental crisis. The visualization of fish thrown out of the water, together with the contrasting atmosphere and barren trees, symbolizes the threats facing ecosystems due to illegal logging, global warming, and industrial pollution.
“What we are facing, such as forest fires, floods, and even the collapse of glaciers or ice masses in the Himalayan mountain region near the Nepal–Tibet border, is a real warning for us to improve and protect our nature and environment,” explained Akbar Linggaprana.
Also attending the event from the Ministry of Creative Economy were Minister’s Special Staff for Communication Renanda Bachtar and Director of Visual Arts and Performing Arts Dadam Mahdar.
