The national running community, initiated by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), in 2012, has been relaunched with a renewed spirit to strengthen togetherness among running communities from various regions while promoting a healthy lifestyle and sportsmanship. Upholding the philosophy of perseverance, Garuda Finishers is expected to serve as a platform that embraces various elements of society and institutions through sports.

Collaboration across communities and subsectors is in line with efforts to strengthen the creative economy as the new engine of growth. Through a lifestyle-oriented approach and public participation, Garuda Finishers is expected to expand to various regions as part of efforts to strengthen a community-based creative economy ecosystem.

“Collaboration between the sports sector and the creative economy has tremendous potential to drive the national economy. By leveraging lifestyle approaches and community engagement, this initiative brings together various creative fields, from apparel design to media and entertainment, while also creating jobs. This public participation-based model is highly relevant for replication in other cities,” said Teuku Riefky.

The growth of running events in Indonesia demonstrates significant potential for strengthening the national sports industry and creative economy. Hexahelix collaboration involving the government, communities, businesses, academia, media, and the public is a key factor in building an independent and competitive ecosystem.

“Through solid and inclusive hexahelix synergy, sporting events are not merely physical competitions, but also platforms that unite all elements of the nation, where various communities come together in the spirit of collaboration, while also serving as a showcase for local creative products to drive the national economy,” Teuku Riefky added.
