“Bukit Mimpi” is part of the EKRAF Peduli Program – Pulih Bersama, Bangkit Berdaya (Ministry of Creative Economy Cares – Recovering Together, Rising Empowered) and a series under the Painting Together with Children Program. This initiative involved 200 children, with 100 children each from Aceh Tamiang and Pariaman City. It is hoped that they can express their experiences and aspirations through painting while gaining space for self-expression, developing creativity, and supporting post-disaster psychosocial recovery for children.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar, stated that the creative economy can play a role in enhancing the added value of public work, including children's creations born out of challenging situations.
“The creative economy can enter the most substantive areas to increase the added value of all works created by Indonesia's young generation, including extraordinary talents capable of producing artwork that we can continuously develop. I realize more and more that painting can also serve as post-disaster therapy. In fact, this could be proposed as a disaster management curriculum,” the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, conveyed that the “Bukit Mimpi” showcase serves as a platform for disaster-affected children to re-express themselves while restoring hope through creativity.

“Creativity may not erase the traces of disaster, but creativity can provide space to restore hope. Through their artwork, children can re-express themselves, build confidence, and look toward the future with optimism. Children from Aceh Tamiang and Pariaman are not only given space to create, but also the opportunity to have their work appreciated by the broader public,” the Minister of Creative Economy expressed.
Out of 200 participants, 20 inspiring works, 10 each from Aceh Tamiang and Pariaman City were selected for exhibition in Jakarta. The exhibition highlights the concept that disaster experiences feeling like a “nightmare” can become a starting point for children to rediscover room to dream.
“Keep creating and never stop dreaming. What you paint today may originate from an experience, but in the future, it can serve as an inspiration for many. Creativity is a strength that can continue to grow when nurtured and given the opportunity,” the Minister of Creative Economy added.
“Bukit Mimpi” marks the final stage of the Program Melukis Bersama series, which previously included preparation, surveys, training of trainers, bootcamps, and local showcases in Aceh Tamiang and Pariaman. The opening of the showcase was marked by collaborative painting and followed by an auction session for the 20 children's paintings.
One of the participants, Irga Al Fachryansyah from SMPN 1 Kejuruan Muda, Aceh, shared that the activity provided him with an opportunity to develop his painting skills and creativity.

“From this activity, I learned how to paint even better. This activity is useful for training creativity so I can produce nicer paintings. I hope painting activities like this will continue to exist and that even more children will participate,” Irga said while appearing with his painting titled ‘Rebuilding, Dreaming Again with EKRAF’.
The EKRAF Peduli Program was also implemented in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra through various creative economy interventions, including barista certification, capacity building for cooks, and capacity development for content creators in disaster-affected areas.
