Jakarta, August 12, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized that the utilization of blockchain technology can enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s creative economy by strengthening the management of Intellectual Property (IP). The Minister of Creative Economy also noted that blockchain technology can create new business models.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, delivers a keynote speech at the Indonesia Blockchain Week (IDBW) Summit 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Jakarta, Wednesday (August 12, 2026).
“The Ministry of Creative Economy recognizes that blockchain has strong relevance because Indonesia has exceptional creative talent and IP. We see blockchain not only as a new technological opportunity, but also as part of an ecosystem that strengthens IP, increases productivity, and creates new economic value for the people,” said the Minister of Creative Economy during his keynote speech at the Indonesia Blockchain Week (IDBW) Summit 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Wednesday (August 12).
The integration of this technology is in line with the establishment of the Creative Economy Master Plan (Rindekraf) 2026–2045 as the long-term foundation for Indonesia’s creative economy development. Under Rindekraf, the scope of the creative economy has expanded from 17 to 21 subsectors, incorporating emerging technology subsectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Web3, and cybersecurity.
“The government wants Indonesia not only to be a market, but also a builder. We want to see more Indonesian founders, developers, creators, and entrepreneurs building world-class solutions. Most importantly, we want to bring more Indonesian IP from local heroes to national champions and then to the global stage,” added the Minister of Creative Economy.

Furthermore, blockchain offers IP-based financing schemes while strengthening aspects of ownership, licensing, and royalties. To support this ecosystem, the Ministry of Creative Economy has laid the foundation for IP protection, talent development, and improved access to financing, while deploying 64 IP valuators to optimize the valuation of Indonesia’s creative works.
On the same occasion, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy, stated that blockchain plays a crucial role in accelerating digital transformation and national development. According to him, the technology has the potential to support economic development, digital government, and more transparent data governance.

“We are not only talking about blockchain as a technology, but also about how blockchain can become part of digital transformation and deliver tangible impacts on national development. Under the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), digital transformation is supported by three main economic pillars: a digital society, digital infrastructure, and digital government. With these three pillars, let us build a digital economy that is more adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable,” said Rachmat Pambudy.
The IDBW Summit 2026, held on August 12–13, 2026, brings together thousands of global stakeholders from the blockchain technology, Web3, tokenization, digital finance, and regulatory sectors. Under the theme Turning Infrastructure Into Impact, the forum serves as a strategic platform for collaboration among the government, industry players, investors, startups, and academics to accelerate Indonesia’s digital economic transformation.
