Minister of Creative Economy Encourages JAFF Market 2026 to Become a Monetization Hub for National Film IP

Jakarta, August 12, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, is strengthening strategic collaboration with the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) to accelerate the national film ecosystem. This effort is being pursued through the 21st JAFF Festival and JAFF Market 2026, which are designed as an integrated hub to bring together film industry players, investors, brand owners, and creative economy stakeholders at the Jogja Expo Center from November 28–30, 2026.

“The organization of JAFF Festival and JAFF Market needs to involve even greater collaboration so that it can generate sustainable economic value. The Ministry of Creative Economy also continues to encourage IP from the film subsector to be viewed not merely as creative works, but as valuable assets that can become part of financing schemes. This is important so that film industry players have easier access to financing or collateral to develop their projects,” said Teuku Riefky during a meeting with the JAFF organizers at the Ministry of Creative Economy office on Wednesday (August 12).

The relevance of JAFF Market as a business and networking platform for the film subsector is demonstrated by the track record of JAFF Market 2025. The event recorded 7,784 visitors, 1,431 accredited participants, and 116 booths representing 142 companies. It also generated an economic impact of Rp130 billion, with business deals valued at Rp43.25 billion.

“Interestingly, this year’s JAFF Market is not merely a business-to-business (B2B) forum. It can also be strengthened as a meeting point for industry players, investors, and business practitioners, or as a hub that can connect them with various stakeholders that have collaborated with the Ministry of Creative Economy to build a stronger film ecosystem. In addition, WCCE 2026 can also be utilized as part of the Road to JAFF Market through film promotion spaces or workshops during the Creative Session,” Teuku Riefky added.

JAFF Market 2026 is scheduled to take place from November 28–30 at the Jogja Expo Center. The event is designed as a hub and marketplace for various industry sectors connected to Indonesia’s film ecosystem through programs including JAFF Future Project, Content Market, Talent Day, Film Industry Exhibition, Company Showcase, Film Conference, Networking Event, Market Screening Room, and JAFF Market Partnership Forum.

“JAFF has become a hub for film industry players, academics, and emerging talents, bringing energy to the film festival. That is why we created JAFF Market so that it can have a more real impact on the creative industry. In the film subsector, there are of course four elements—filmmakers, audiences, media, and government—that must work together with a shared vision to support collaboration among stakeholders,” said JAFF Festival Director Ifa Isfansyah.

The discussion on collaboration continued with other proposals, including strengthening higher-quality B2B and B2C forums, creating spaces for brands to meet with filmmakers and producers, utilizing government promotional assets for Indonesian films that have achieved recognition on the global stage, and leveraging international networks to bring global film industry players to Indonesia. Through these efforts, JAFF Festival can serve as a gateway to strengthening the film ecosystem, while JAFF Market can become a platform for business and IP monetization.
