Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, expresses appreciation for the role of the Indonesian Graphic Designers Association (ADGI) in developing the national graphic design ecosystem while attending the opening of ADGI Design Week 2026 in the SCBD area, Jakarta, Wednesday (14/10/2026).

According to the Minister of Creative Economy, ADGI has been able to provide benefits to its members across Indonesia, not only in major cities but also in regional areas.

“I see ADGI as one of the associations that has been built in a way that its outcomes benefit not only its leaders and management but also its members, including those outside major cities,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

The Minister also highlighted the potential of Indonesian graphic designers, whose works are increasingly gaining recognition both nationally and internationally. He noted that Indonesia’s cultural richness provides designers with a strong foundation for creating distinctive works that can compete in global markets.

“Indonesian graphic designers have tremendous potential, especially given the richness of our cultures across different regions, each with its own distinctive characteristics. They can not only establish themselves in their own regions and in their own country, but also receive support to bring their work to the global stage,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Mayor of South Jakarta Syafrin Liputo emphasized the importance of collaboration among the government, professional associations, communities, educational institutions, industry, and business practitioners in developing the creative ecosystem. Such synergy is expected to create opportunities for global collaboration while expanding the reach of creative works and businesses.

“This event provides a space to celebrate creative works and bring together designers, artists, communities, academics, and creative industry players to build a strong and competitive design ecosystem,” he said.

ADGI Design Week 2026 is organized by ADGI to celebrate the works and talents of Indonesian graphic designers while promoting Indonesia as a regional design hub. Taking place from October 14–18, 2026, at Astha 8 SCBD, the event features exhibitions, awards, and discussions to strengthen the role of graphic design across various fields and in Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy.

This year’s ADGI Design Week carries the theme “OFF GRID,” encouraging designers to look beyond the boundaries and established practices of graphic design. The theme reflects the courage to explore new ideas, break away from conventions, and create opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration.

“We want to convey the message that graphic design can serve as a gateway to the creative economy. We are opening the door to multidisciplinary collaboration in the world of design. By showcasing Indonesia’s potential, we hope to compete with greater confidence on the international stage,” said ADGI Chairman Ritchie Ned Hansel.

Also attending the event was ParagonCorp Director of Corporate Affairs Astri Wahyuni. The Minister of Creative Economy was accompanied by Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity Yuke Sri Rahayu; Director of Architecture and Design Sabar Norma Megawati; Minister’s Expert Staff for Strategic Creative Economy Issues Gemintang Kejora Mallarangeng; and Minister’s Expert Staff for Media Affairs Rocklin Aprilius Anderson.
