Minister of Creative Economy: Patriot Expedition 2026 Strengthens the Creative Economy in Transmigration Areas

Jakarta, July 29, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, provided briefing to the 2026 Patriot Expedition Team. The Minister of Creative Economy equipped participants with methodologies for mapping local potential, identifying leading subsectors, and formulating area development recommendations that will serve as the basis for implementing creative economy programs in transmigration areas.

The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, delivers a briefing at the National Departure Ceremony for the 2026 Patriot Expedition Team at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, Wednesday (29/07/2026).

The 2026 Patriot Expedition Program involves 1,230 academics and young talents ranging from undergraduate to doctoral levels, accompanied by 246 team leaders comprising lecturers, researchers, and professors from 10 partner universities. The presence of these field research teams is expected to produce precise data that will serve as the basis for policy interventions by the Ministry of Creative Economy and the Ministry of Transmigration.

“Each transmigration area has different potential and challenges. The Patriot Expedition Team is tasked with identifying leading creative economy subsectors, mapping needs for ecosystem strengthening, and formulating actionable development recommendations that can be implemented jointly by the Ministry of Creative Economy and the Ministry of Transmigration. In this way, the programs implemented will truly correspond to the needs and potential of each region,” said the Minister of Creative Economy during the briefing at the National Departure Ceremony for the 2026 Patriot Expedition Team at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, Wednesday (29/7).

In his address, the Minister of Creative Economy presented a creative economy development strategy referring to the 2026–2045 National Creative Economy Masterplan (Rindekraf). Participants were provided with an in-depth understanding of the 21 creative economy subsectors, the hexahelix collaboration approach, as well as area transformation through three flagship programs of the Ministry of Creative Economy, namely Creative Village Activation, Creative Hub Activation, and Creative by Indonesia, so that the mapping results can be followed up through programs that have a tangible impact on the community.

In addition to identifying leading subsectors, the Patriot Expedition Team will also map the needs for strengthening the creative economy ecosystem based on the eight pillars of creative economy development. The mapping results will be utilized to formulate area development strategy recommendations, increase community income, and accelerate the realization of more advanced and self-reliant transmigration villages through the creative economy.

The Minister of Creative Economy considers young people to hold a strategic position in this agenda. Based on 2024 data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), more than half of the creative economy workforce comes from the Millennial and Generation Z groups. Creativity, the ability to adapt to technology, and an entrepreneurial spirit are key strengths needed to develop regional potential.

“Through the Patriot Expedition, we want to encourage young people not only to become job seekers, but also job creators. Their creativity must be transformed into economic added value that provides direct benefits to the community while strengthening the competitiveness of transmigration areas,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

The recommendations produced by the Patriot Expedition Team will subsequently serve as one of the bases for implementing the Ministry of Creative Economy’s priority programs in transmigration areas. This synergy is aimed at optimizing local economic potential, strengthening the capacity of creative economy talents and practitioners, and expanding market access for creative products to national and global markets.

The Minister of Creative Economy was accompanied at the event by Acting Deputy for Strategic Creative Economy Development Agus Syarip Hidayat and Director of Funding, Financing, and Investment Access Development Anggara Hayun Anujuprana.

Also attending the event were Minister of Transmigration Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, Deputy Minister of Transmigration Viva Yoga Mauladi, as well as senior and middle-ranking officials from the Ministry of Transmigration and relevant ministries/agencies.
