“The Ministry of Creative Economy views royal palaces and indigenous communities as an important part of Indonesia’s cultural wealth, with significant potential to be further developed through the creative economy ecosystem. Cultural preservation needs to go hand in hand with innovation so that traditional values remain alive while also providing economic benefits for communities,” said Teuku Riefky during the meeting at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, Thursday (August 13).
FSKN is an indigenous community organization that brings together traditional leaders and royal palaces or kingdoms across Indonesia. Established in 2006 and legally incorporated, the organization serves as a forum for kings, sultans, penglingsir, traditional leaders, and members of royal lineages from various regions across the Nusantara.
“We hope that collaboration with FSKN can create broader opportunities for Nusantara culture to be recognized, developed, and appreciated. Festivals such as FKMA can serve as a platform to bring Indonesia’s cultural diversity together with international networks, particularly across the ASEAN region,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

FKMA is part of an effort to introduce the diversity of Indonesia’s royal palaces and indigenous communities while creating a space for cultural exchange with indigenous community networks across ASEAN. Chairman of FSKN and Raja Turikale VIII of Maros, AA Mapparessa, said the event would serve as an opportunity to build collaboration in developing royal communities across the Nusantara.
He explained that one of the programs previously initiated was Hindu Heritage tourism in South Jakarta. The program is expected to serve as a model for developing tourism and the creative economy based on the potential of royal heritage in various regions across Indonesia. According to him, the five-century milestone of Jakarta provides an opportunity to highlight cultural values and the potential of royal heritage, including in the tourism and creative economy sectors.
“We want to create momentum to build collaboration and develop royal communities across the Nusantara. Through FKMA, we are establishing cooperation with the Jakarta Provincial Government and have previously initiated joint programs with the government in the tourism and creative economy sectors. The Hindu Heritage tourism program in South Jakarta, for example, serves as a starting point for developing a tourism and creative economy model for royal palaces across the Nusantara. We want to highlight the cultural values and potential of royal heritage, both in tourism and the creative economy, with Jakarta as the center of national activities,” said AA Mapparessa.

The Ministry of Creative Economy will explore opportunities to synergize the festival with various relevant creative subsector development programs. Cross-sector collaboration is expected to connect cultural wealth with the performing arts, visual arts, crafts, fashion, architecture, design, and culinary subsectors.
The meeting was also attended by Director of Visual Arts and Performing Arts Dadam Mahdar, as well as representatives from the Directorate of Fashion, Directorate of Culinary, and relevant units within the Ministry of Creative Economy. FSKN was represented by a number of kings, sultans, and traditional leaders from various regions across Indonesia.
