“This is a strategic step toward strengthening the identity of our traditional cuisine so that it can compete and establish a strong position in the international arena. The government fully supports local businesses that have the courage to expand globally and bring authentic Indonesian flavors to the world stage,” said Teuku Riefky at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 12).

During the regular meeting, the two parties discussed a range of strategic support, from policy guidance and international promotional facilitation to network expansion. The discussion also covered efforts to strengthen connectivity between the creative ecosystems of Indonesia and the Republic of Korea, create opportunities for creative economy collaboration, and facilitate business matching with strategic partners and potential investors.

Based on Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data processed by the Ministry of Creative Economy, the culinary subsector was the largest contributor to the creative economy in 2025, accounting for 41.06 percent and recording growth of 8.44 percent. Exports of culinary subsector goods also showed a positive trend, increasing from US$0.23 billion in January–April 2025 to US$0.28 billion during the same period in 2026.

“The presence of local products overseas will become a new driving force for strengthening culinary-based exports. We are ready to facilitate restaurants seeking to open overseas. We will connect them with Indonesian investors through business matching, promotional support, and integration with verified MSMEs, which will subsequently be followed up by the relevant directorates within the Ministry of Creative Economy,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

The Indonesian restaurant to be developed by Kembali Berdjaya Group in Seoul will adopt a contemporary culinary and coffee concept while maintaining authentic Indonesian flavors. The restaurant is expected to introduce Indonesia’s hospitality heritage while expanding awareness of Nusantara cuisine in the Republic of Korea. Seoul was selected based on its strong food and beverage (F&B) market potential and high purchasing power among urban consumers for Southeast Asian culinary trends.

“We are committed to building this Indonesian restaurant in Korea not merely as a place to eat, but as an adaptive and scalable Indonesian hospitality platform that can continue to grow in international markets. We also deeply appreciate the positive response from the Ministry of Creative Economy, which we hope will accelerate the realization of our expansion roadmap for outlets in Seoul,” said Kembali Berdjaya Group Project Founder Meta Rosiana.

During the meeting, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky was accompanied by Director of Culinary Romi Astuti; Director of Intellectual Property Facilitation Development M. Fauzi; and Minister’s Expert Staff for Strategic and Inter-Institutional Affairs, Gemintang Kejora Mallarangeng.
