Jakarta, July 31, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, attended the opening of the Re:Rasa International Poster Biennale 2026 at Universitas Paramadina, Jakarta. The Minister emphasized that Visual Communication Design (VCD) is a vital foundation of the creative economy ecosystem, adding value across all creative economy subsectors, including fashion, film, music, culinary arts, crafts, as well as applications and games.

"I would like to express my appreciation to Universitas Paramadina, the organizing committee, the curators, and all partners for presenting this event under the theme 'Re:Think, Re:Make, Re:Act,' which is highly relevant amid the rapid advancement of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). Today, design is expected not only to be visually appealing but also to encourage us to think critically, engage in dialogue, and view challenges from new perspectives. This is where Re:Rasa plays a significant role—as a platform that brings together students, designers, illustrators, academics, industry players, and creative communities from around the world to foster collaboration, develop ideas, and create new opportunities," said Teuku Riefky in his opening remarks on Friday (31/7).
The Visual Communication Design sector, along with the broader design industry, continues to make a significant contribution to the national economy. Indonesian design talents have also demonstrated their ability to penetrate the global industry by contributing to world-renowned Intellectual Property (IP) brands such as Disney, Pokémon, and Marvel. Strengthening an Intellectual Property (IP)-based design ecosystem is in line with the Ministry of Creative Economy's role as a new engine of national economic growth, as well as the mandate of Presidential Regulation No. 37 of 2026 on the Creative Economy Master Plan (Rindekraf) 2026–2045 to enhance the added value of Indonesia's creative products on the global stage.

The Minister also expressed his appreciation for the exhibition's presentation of 88 curated works from 25 countries, demonstrating that Indonesia not only possesses outstanding design talent but is also increasingly recognized as a meeting point for the international design community. On this basis, the design sector is viewed as more than an aesthetic discipline—it serves as a platform for creating added value, building identity, generating intellectual property, and unlocking new economic opportunities.
"We hope Re:Rasa will continue to grow into one of Indonesia's leading international design platforms, expanding its global network while generating a greater impact on the national design ecosystem. To all designers, especially the younger generation, continue creating and never hesitate to showcase your work to the world. Indonesian creative works are not only capable of competing internationally but are also able to offer fresh perspectives in the global design conversation," Teuku Riefky added.
Initiated by the Visual Communication Design Study Program of Universitas Paramadina, the Re:Rasa International Poster Biennale 2026 is being held for the first time and is set to become a biennial international exhibition and forum that serves as a platform for collaboration and the exchange of visual ideas among designers, illustrators, and artists from around the world. Combining the concept of "Re:" as a way to re-examine social, cultural, and ecological realities with "Rasa" as an expression of the affective dimension, the exhibition positions design as the intersection between critical thinking and empathy—encouraging us not only to understand the world, but also to experience it.

The three-day event, taking place from July 31 to August 2, 2026, at Universitas Paramadina, features 88 selected poster works. In addition to the international poster exhibition, the program includes a range of interactive supporting activities such as Artist Talks, Creative Workshops, and an Art Market showcasing a variety of local creative products, selected MSMEs, and diverse culinary and food & beverage offerings.
"I would like to extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Minister of Creative Economy for attending and providing his full support for this event. Our courage to take one small step today has proven capable of opening the door to a much greater journey, even surpassing our expectations with the participation of designers from 25 countries," said Didik Junaidi Rachbini, Rector of Universitas Paramadina.
Accompanying the Minister at the exhibition opening were Deputy for Cultural Creativity and Design of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Yuke Sri Rahayu; Director of Architecture and Design of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Sabar Norma Megawati; the Minister's Expert Staff for Media Issues and Public Opinion, Hasbil Mustaqim Lubis; and the Minister's Expert Staff for Protocol and Regional Coordination, Panji Purboyo.
