Menekraf outlined several measures to accelerate the creative economy ecosystem, including IP-based financing, strengthening the IP valuation profession, and various collaborative programs with WIPO. These efforts are aimed at strengthening a creative economy ecosystem capable of enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian creative products in international markets.
“We want to strengthen synergy with WIPO so that intellectual property is not only protected, but can also be commercialized to become a driver of creative economy growth. Through strengthening local IP, we aim to create local heroes go national and national champions go global,” said Menekraf during the meeting at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta on Thursday (6/8).
Menekraf explained that the Ministry of Creative Economy continues to accelerate several flagship programs, including Creative Hub Activation, Creative Village Activation, Creative by Indonesia, talent and creative entrepreneurship development, and the acceleration of local IP development. These programs are designed to strengthen the creative economy value chain, from local regions to the global level.

“Creative Economy is The New Engine of Growth, or the New Engine of National Economic Growth, which must begin with strengthening regions, as reflected in the journey of cooperation between the Ministry of Creative Economy and WIPO: from the Collective Trademark Pilot Project in Bali to preparations for WCCE 2026 in Jakarta,” he said.
The cooperation between the Ministry of Creative Economy and WIPO, established in 2023, demonstrates a shared commitment to building a stronger intellectual property ecosystem. The collaboration began through the Collective Trademark Pilot Project, which resulted in the Branding UnBalivable IP program. The Ministry of Creative Economy will replicate the project in Aceh as a pilot project for implementing a comprehensive collective trademark assistance model.
The model developed in Aceh is expected to serve as a blueprint that can be gradually replicated across 15 priority provinces for creative economy development, allowing the benefits of an intellectual property-based economy to be felt more broadly throughout Indonesia.

As part of the implementation of intellectual property-based financing, the Ministry of Creative Economy is also carrying out the IP-Based People's Business Credit (KUR) Pilot Project to assess the feasibility of intellectual property as a financing asset. The second phase of the program is scheduled to begin in August 2026 as an effort to expand access to capital for creative economy players who own intellectual property assets.
Deputy Director General of WIPO, Hasan Kleib, said that WIPO currently has several projects that could be developed in collaboration with creative economy players in Indonesia, including WIPO Fantastic Agents of the Creative Economy (FACE), which can strengthen cross-country networks, as well as WIPO Creators Learn Intellectual Property (CLIP), a learning platform for musicians. Hasan also expressed his support for the Aceh Collective Trademark Pilot Project so that it can serve as a blueprint for the other 15 priority provinces.
“Thank you very much for the invitation. At WIPO, we will continue to remain rest assured in every collaboration. We also appreciate the collaboration on Animate and Innovate with IP: Empowering Indonesia's Next Generation of Creators. We would like to receive input regarding the national consultant for this animation project. Regarding IP valuation as additional collateral, this is a good step, and to strengthen this effort, WIPO is ready to provide training,” said Hasan.
