Ministry of Creative Economy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Strengthen Preparations for WCCE 2026 in Jakarta

Jakarta, October 15, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held the Pre-WCCE Networking Reception ahead of the 5th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE). Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya expressed his appreciation for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ full support in strengthening Indonesia’s readiness to host the 5th WCCE, which will take place at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta, on October 21–23, 2026.

Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) Teuku Riefky Harsya delivered remarks at the Pre-WCCE Networking Reception held ahead of the 5th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE), Jakarta, Thursday (October 17, 2026).

“The Government of Indonesia appreciates its close partnership with ambassadors from friendly nations and members of the diplomatic corps, who have continued to support the creative economy as an engine of sustainable growth and global diplomacy since the first WCCE. This year’s event carries the overarching theme ‘Inclusively Creative: Collective Continuity’ and aims to formulate the Jakarta Vision while positioning the creative economy as an engine of sustainable growth, creative diplomacy, and global cooperation. We seek to strengthen Indonesia’s role in advancing strategic dialogue on the creative economy among nations,” said Minister Riefky.

The Jakarta Vision on Creative Economy document will focus on four strategic clusters: Technology, AI, and Digital Transformation; Sustainability, Circular Economy, and Regenerative Design; Intellectual Property and Creative Workers’ Rights; and Inclusivity, Creative Ecosystems, and Community Empowerment. These priorities are being developed through a public consultation process.

The WCCE initiative, launched by Indonesia in Bali in 2018 and subsequently held in Dubai in 2021, Bali in 2022, and Tashkent in 2024, returns to Jakarta in 2026. This demonstrates Indonesia’s continued commitment to advancing diplomacy in the creative economy sector. The forum serves as an effective bridge connecting business practitioners, academics, and policymakers across countries.

“To date, 1,567 participants from 51 countries and seven international organizations have confirmed their attendance in Jakarta. For Indonesia, WCCE is more than just an international forum; it is a strategic opportunity to bring our creative potential to the world stage,” Minister Riefky said.

The WCCE 2026 program will also be integrated with National Creative Economy Day on October 24 through the OktoberKreasi movement to expand networks and foster business collaboration.

Minister Riefky invited representatives of friendly nations to participate actively and take advantage of on-site registration facilities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ full support for this international event was also reaffirmed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arif Havas Oegroseno, who emphasized the ministry’s commitment as a strategic partner in economic and public diplomacy.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is fully committed to supporting the success of WCCE 2026 and hopes that the event will lead to concrete projects and sustainable collaborations in the future. To this end, we invite diplomats and international partners to actively collaborate with Indonesia’s creative industry players and to foster open communication to address the various challenges involved in realizing these global partnerships,” Arif Havas Oegroseno emphasized.
