Ministry of Creative Economy Ensures Readiness for the 81st Indonesian Independence Day Carnival at Monas

Jakarta, August 15, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) has confirmed the readiness of the Indonesian Independence Day Carnival, which will feature 32 floats from ministries and government institutions. The carnival represents a manifestation of unity and synergy within the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy/Secretary-General of the Creative Economy Agency, Dessy Ruhati, delivers remarks during an inspection of preparations for the Carnival as part of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day celebrations at Monas, Jakarta, Saturday (August 15, 2026).

“This activity is being directly monitored by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. He wants this activity to involve the public as broadly as possible and provide opportunities for the community to take part in the festivities of Independence. Hopefully, everything will run smoothly,” said Deputy Minister of State Secretary, Juri Ardiantoro, at Monas, Saturday (August 15).

The carnival is scheduled to begin at Monas on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 6:45 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), passing through Patung Kuda, Sarinah, and Bundaran HI, while marking Malam Merdeka, which will feature various attractions and performances. Each ministry and/or government institution will showcase its flagship programs alongside Independence-themed cosplay based on six National Priority Programs: Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency, Free Nutritious Meals, Sekolah Rakyat, Free Health Checkups, Merah Putih Cooperatives, and the 3 Million Subsidized Houses Program.

“Let us look after one another and take full responsibility for our respective duties to ensure the smooth running of the event. Let us make this Independence month a moment to demonstrate our unity as we celebrate our shared happiness and joy,” said Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy/Secretary-General of the Creative Economy Agency, Dessy Ruhati.

The carnival will also feature a parade, marching band performances, a procession featuring the Sabang Merauke performance, and musical entertainment from the main stage. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a festival area featuring rows of MSME culinary stalls, along with fireworks and a drone show.

“The Independence Carnival is not merely a parade, but also an opportunity to develop creativity among ministries and government institutions, the TNI-Polri, and state-owned enterprises/Danantara by showcasing their flagship programs,” added Dessy Ruhati.

Preparations for the carnival, held as part of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day celebrations, represent strong cross-sector collaboration and reflect the development of creativity across all parts of the archipelago. This synergy demonstrates that the spirit of independence becomes even more meaningful when celebrated together through the creative works of the nation’s talents.
