The Minister of Creative Economy emphasized that digital media plays a strategic role in strengthening the creative economy ecosystem amid changes in people’s behavior, particularly among younger generations, in consuming information.

“The creative economy is a sector that is closely connected to the younger generation. Based on Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data, of the total 27.4 million workers in the creative economy, approximately 63 percent come from Gen Z and millennials, while 58 percent are women. Therefore, collaboration with digital platforms and creative media is important to strengthen this ecosystem,” said Teuku Riefky during his presentation.

The Minister of Creative Economy explained that the creative economy sector has significant potential to create new jobs. Each year, the sector is capable of absorbing 1 to 1.5 million new workers. The flexible and creativity-based nature of work in the creative sector is also increasingly aligned with the preferences of younger generations who seek to work based on their interests and expertise.

The Minister of Creative Economy added that the performance of the national creative economy continues to show a positive trend. In 2025, investment realization in the creative economy sector reached 134 percent of the set target, contributing 9.5 percent of total national investment realization. Meanwhile, creative economy exports reached 120 percent of the target, contributing 12 percent of total national exports.

“These achievements demonstrate that confidence in the creative economy sector continues to grow. However, there remains significant potential that has not yet been fully recorded, particularly digital-based creative services exports such as music, animation, design, architecture, game development, and various technology-based creative occupations,” he explained.

On the same occasion, Editor-in-Chief of Kumparan, Ahmad Toriq, presented the digital media transformation undertaken through a multiplatform content distribution strategy. In addition to relying on its website, Kumparan has expanded its audience reach through various digital channels, including Instagram and TikTok.

Kumparan recorded that the combined performance of its various digital channels generated approximately 900 million monthly impressions in June 2026. In addition, the engagement rate of Kumparan’s content reached 0.24 percent, higher than TikTok’s average of 0.09 percent.

“These changes present both challenges and opportunities for the media industry. While text-based content continues to hold important value, distribution through video, live streaming, and digital platforms has become an inseparable part of today’s media strategy,” said Ahmad Toriq.

The Ministry of Creative Economy hopes that synergies among the government, media, and industry will continue to be strengthened to build an inclusive, innovative, and competitive ecosystem, enabling the creative economy to serve as a new engine of national economic growth.
