Jakarta, August 24, 2026 — Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, encouraged the strengthening of networks between the Indonesian and Taiwanese music industries through Taiwan Beats in Jakarta. This strategic initiative provides a space for industry players from both countries to collaborate, creating opportunities for talent exchange, creative development, and expanded access to international markets.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, delivers remarks at the Taiwan Beats in Jakarta Seminar at MINQ Jakarta, Monday (24/8/2026).
“Music has the power to bring people, cultures, and nations together. Therefore, Taiwan Beats in Jakarta is not merely a music event, but also a platform to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Taiwan through the creative economy,” said the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy while attending the Taiwan Beats in Jakarta Seminar at MINQ Jakarta, Monday (24/8).
Irene explained that Indonesia has a wealth of talent, a diverse music subsector, and rapidly growing creative communities. Meanwhile, Taiwan has a dynamic creative ecosystem and extensive experience in developing its cultural industries. Bringing these two ecosystems together is expected to create broad opportunities for musicians and creative players to exchange experiences, create collaborative works, promote culture, and reach global audiences.
Taiwan Beats is a program initiated by the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development (BAMID), Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, and developed in collaboration with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA). The Taiwan Beats series in Indonesia takes place from August 21–25, 2026, in Jakarta and Bali, featuring industry exchanges, business matching, seminars, industry visits, and music showcases.
The program collaborates with LaLaLa Fest 2026 and further expands the festival’s role as a business-to-business (B2B) platform. The collaboration involves approximately 50 Taiwanese music industry delegates in networking and business matching sessions aimed at connecting industry players and creating opportunities for cooperation in the Indonesian market.

The collaboration between Taiwan Beats and LaLaLa Fest aligns with the Ministry of Creative Economy’s efforts to ensure that music festivals go beyond entertainment and serve as platforms for industry engagement, network development, talent exchange, creative promotion, and access to international markets. The participation of delegates from Taiwan also provides an opportunity to introduce Indonesia’s creative economy potential more broadly to international partners.
“In the creative economy, we want to ensure that creativity does not stop at a creative work, but can develop into sustainable economic value. Musicians and creative players must have opportunities to expand their markets, build international networks, develop intellectual property, and gain greater economic benefits from their work,” said Irene.
The Ministry of Creative Economy continues to strengthen the national music industry through talent development, network expansion, creative promotion, and the opening of international opportunities. Through Taiwan Beats in Jakarta, relations between Indonesian and Taiwanese music industry players are expected to develop into sustainable partnerships that create more opportunities for talent and creative economy players in both countries.
