Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, visits one of the booths at The Local Market ID: Pasar Wiwitan at SCBD Park, Jakarta, Saturday (3/10/2026).

“Pioneers of the creative economy always need a stage or space to showcase the creative works and products they’ve created. Through The Local Market SCBD, every creative economy subsector can find a place to showcase what Indonesia has to offer,” the Deputy Head of Ekraf said on Saturday (October 3).

The Deputy Minister explained that The Local Market ID is not merely a place for transactions, but a space for direct interaction between producers and consumers. Through this interaction, the public is invited to understand the value, stories, and creative processes behind each product, which ultimately boosts added value and appreciation for authentic Indonesian works.

“Every product made with the creator’s heart and love naturally has a story. We should continue to support authentic local Indonesian products. This way, more high-quality local products will gain market access and become more widely recognized,” the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy said.

This market access potential was directly experienced by Mail Chen, owner of Meliponini Honey from Belitung, a business that integrates the culinary and herbal product subsectors based on stingless bee farming. Her participation for three consecutive months has proven to open up new market opportunities in Jakarta.

“Our products are honey and propolis from stingless bees. We have our own beekeeping in Belitung. These are local Indonesian bees that produce honey and propolis,” Mail Chen explained.

Meliponini Honey’s participation in The Local Market ID has now entered its third month and has received a positive response from the public. With prices ranging from Rp115,000 to Rp450,000, Meliponini Honey has attracted the interest of Jakarta residents seeking high-quality herbal health products. The presence of beehives and live bees at the event venue serves as an interactive educational tool for visitors.

“Our hope is that Indonesian families can access herbal and natural products that help maintain their family’s health through locally produced Indonesian goods. There’s no need to always rely on imported items,” Mail Chen said.

The Local Market ID: Pasar Wiwitan initiative at SCBD Park is scheduled to take place on the first weekend of every month, open from Saturday 07.00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. In addition to encouraging the purchase of local products, this event also integrates the performing arts through regional dance performances, traditional gamelan music, angklung music, and wayang kulit (shadow puppet) performances.
