Ministry of Creative Economy Promotes Safe and Inclusive Creative Spaces on National Children's Day

Jakarta, 23 July 2026 – In commemoration of the 42nd National Children's Day (HAN), the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening creative spaces that are safe, inclusive, and supportive of the growth and development of Indonesian children. In line with the theme of National Children's Day 2026, "Love Children, Protect and Build the Future," this commitment reinforces the creative economy strategy as the new engine of growth, while advancing children's rights, protection, and active participation in shaping Indonesia's national creative ecosystem.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, visits the People's Junior High School (Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama/SRMP) in Kendari, Tuesday (26/08/2025).

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized that children are not only a source of inspiration but also the future talents of the creative economy. Therefore, they must be provided with opportunities to learn, express themselves, and innovate from an early age through a safe and collaborative environment.

"National Children's Day reminds us that one of the nation's greatest investments is ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn and create on the path toward Golden Indonesia 2045. The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to establishing child-friendly creative hubs where Indonesia's young talents can grow into an innovative generation—from local champions to national champions, and ultimately become globally competitive," said the Minister of Creative Economy.

To realize this vision, the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency continues to promote a hexahelix collaboration involving regional governments, businesses, academia, communities, the media, and financial institutions to create creative spaces free from discrimination and child exploitation. This initiative is aligned with the spirit of the National Movement #RamahAmanNyamanAnak (GERNAS #RANA), which encourages the participation of all elements of society in creating safe and welcoming environments across the country.

"The creative economy generates not only economic value but also sustainable social value by serving as a platform for education, cross-sector collaboration, and the creation of new opportunities for creative economy practitioners. The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to ensuring that the creative ecosystem grows in a way that fosters creativity, celebrates diversity, and builds the character of children to prepare them for future challenges," added Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar.

According to the 2025 Indonesia Children's Profile published by the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Indonesia is home to 79.9 million children, representing 28.38 percent of the country's total population. Through the momentum of National Children's Day 2026, the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency invites all stakeholders to strengthen literacy, promote narratives of creativity, and raise awareness of the importance of young people's mental resilience in navigating technological advancement and the digital era.

The significant potential of Indonesia's children as part of the country's demographic dividend provides a strong foundation for the sustainability of the creative economy sector, which continues to demonstrate positive growth. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the creative economy sector employed 27.4 million workers in 2025, accounting for 18.7 percent of the national workforce.

This achievement demonstrates that the creative economy is one of the country's key pillars for job creation, particularly for the younger generation. Therefore, investing in children through education, creativity development, digital literacy, and the provision of safe spaces for self-expression is a strategic step toward preparing globally competitive creative talents for the future.
