The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), through the Directorate of Access to Funding, Financing, and Investment Development, held a Business Literacy Program for creative economy (Ekraf) practitioners affected by the disaster in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. The activity, held at Sanggar Seni Sopo Daganak Building, Batang Toru District, Thursday (17/9), was attended by 50 local creative business practitioners.

The initiative was designed to equip creative economy practitioners with business and financial management skills, access to banking services, and an understanding of financial risks. This capacity-building effort ensures that economic recovery does not stop at business reactivation, but also encourages the establishment of resilient, adaptive, and sustainable business units.

“Creative economy practitioners must be part of the recovery process. We want them not only to resume their businesses, but also to have stronger capacities to grow and remain resilient,” said Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya.

According to the Minister, post-disaster recovery must place business and livelihood sustainability at the core of strengthening the regional economy.

Director of Access to Funding, Financing, and Investment Development, Anggara Hayun Anujuprana, emphasized the importance of ensuring that business practitioners have a strong foundation before proceeding to further mentoring and financing integration.

“Business recovery is not merely about returning to selling products, but about how creative economy practitioners equip themselves with the knowledge and readiness to build more resilient and sustainable businesses,” said Anggara Hayun.

On the occasion, Anggara Hayun delivered introductory material on business management. Representatives of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk., namely Manager of Retail Deposit Product & Solution Ahlan Azman Iskariman and Micro Banking Cluster Manager Marwan Efendi Nasution, were also present to explain banking support schemes. Meanwhile, Assistant Manager of the Financial Services Business Conduct Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection Division of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of North Sumatra Province, Latifa Putri Radiansyah, provided education on preventing illegal investments, illegal online lending, online gambling, as well as the use of the Financial Information Services System (SLIK).

Assistant III of the Regional Secretariat of South Tapanuli Regency, Trianta Hadil Khoiri Dairiyawan, welcomed the cross-sectoral collaboration. He considered collaboration among the central government, regional government, financial services institutions, and social partners important, as the community’s recovery needs cannot be addressed by a single party.

“Economic recovery for the community requires joint efforts across sectors, and this is a concrete example. We hope that collaborations like this will continue and provide meaningful impacts for the people of South Tapanuli,” said Trianta.

This program serves as the initial step toward a comprehensive business recovery ecosystem. Creative economy practitioners who meet the criteria will proceed to the curation, mentoring, and pitching session stages to be directly connected with investors and financing institutions. The business development of all participants will be monitored periodically to ensure the effectiveness of the facilitation.
