Jakarta, July 28, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, attended a reception and fashion show by the PINTU France-Indonesia incubator at the residence of the French Ambassador in Jakarta. The event showcased the results of cross-border collaboration between French fashion designers, talents from École Duperré–Paris, Indonesian designers, and local craft artisans through the PINTU Residency Program to strengthen the competitiveness of the national fashion and crafts subsectors in the global market.

The PINTU Residency Program is a strategic incubator that brings together the creativity of Indonesian and French designers with the expertise of local artisans. Through a contemporary design approach, the program transforms cultural heritage into internationally competitive products while strengthening creative diplomacy between the two countries.

In his remarks, Minister of Creative Economy emphasized that the partnership between Indonesia and France has grown beyond the fashion industry, encompassing ecosystem development in the crafts, design, film, animation, gaming, culinary, and talent mobility subsectors.

“Indonesia and France have built a strong friendship over many years. The cooperation between the two countries is not limited to fashion, but also encompasses crafts, design, film, animation, gaming, culinary arts, and talent development. Over the past year, we have witnessed various encouraging developments, and we are now continuing to expand the partnership through various initiatives such as PINTU Residency and the Indonesian & French Designer Cross Residency (ADIR) program, which will soon be implemented,” said Minister of Creative Economy, Tuesday (28/7).

Minister of Creative Economy explained that PINTU Residency is a concrete example of how international collaboration can connect Indonesian and French designers with local artisans. Through the program, cultural heritage is combined with modern design approaches to produce works with added value while creating new economic opportunities. The partnership between Indonesia and France is expected to continue growing through various creative exchange programs, talent mobility, and cross-subsector collaboration in the creative economy.

“One concrete example of this collaboration is PINTU Residency. The program brings together French and Indonesian designers with local artisans to combine traditional craft expertise with contemporary design. The program is not only aimed at producing beautiful products, but also serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, strengthening people-to-people relations, and creating various new opportunities. Going forward, we hope this partnership can continue to expand through more creative exchange programs, joint collaborations, talent mobility, and cooperation across various creative economy subsectors,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

This year, through the Directorate of Crafts, the Ministry of Creative Economy also supported the Batik Design PINTU Residency in collaboration with the Mojokerto Regency Government. The collaboration between French designers Lisa Rayar and Mickaël Nana, Indonesian designers Gabriel Marcella and Beatrice Angelic, and Mojokerto batik artisans resulted in three works showcased at the evening fashion show as a representation of the fusion of cultural heritage and design innovation.

French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN H.E. Fabien Penone said that the strength of PINTU lies in its nature as a long-term collaboration that genuinely connects France and Indonesia. Indonesia is one of only a few countries in the world where a residency program of this kind has been developed. The program is expected to bring together more participants from both countries while continuing to explore and gain a deeper understanding of the creative ecosystems in France and Indonesia.

“I am proud to announce that the two collections produced through this program will be showcased at the Première Classe Trade Show in Paris next October. This once again demonstrates the importance of fashion creation residency programs in Indonesia as a new instrument for strengthening creative collaboration between the two countries,” said Fabien.

Founder of LAKON Indonesia and Co-Initiator of PINTU Incubator, Thresia Mareta, said that for many years, PINTU has brought together designers, mentors, educational institutions, organizations, and industry players from Indonesia and France. Together, they have exchanged knowledge, talent, and perspectives. Over time, PINTU has also fostered an increasing number of collaborations and joint works that have developed organically.

“For me, this is one of the most meaningful outcomes of the program. The true value of a partnership lies not only in the various activities we organize, but also in the relationships that continue to grow, the ideas that continue to develop, and the new opportunities that emerge because people have been brought together and have come to understand one another better,” said Thresia.

The event was also attended by a number of fashion industry players from Indonesia and France. Minister of Creative Economy was accompanied by Deputy for Culture and Design, Yuke Sri Rahayu, and Advisor to the Dharma Wanita Persatuan of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Adinda Yuanita.
