Jakarta, August 28, 2026 – Post-disaster recovery is not only about rebuilding infrastructure and physical facilities, but must also address the social and economic well-being of affected communities. Reviving businesses, creativity, and livelihoods is an important part of helping affected communities regain their ability to become self-reliant.
The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) organizes the Masak Bersama Master (MASAMO) Medan program at SMK 02 Telkom Medan. The activity provides a platform to revive the creativity, skills, and business opportunities of local communities, helping them regain their resilience and become self-reliant.
This spirit is reflected in the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf)’s Masak Bersama Master (MASAMO) Medan program, held from August 26–28, 2026, at SMK 02 Telkom Medan. Organized by the Deputy for Cultural Creativity and Design, particularly through the Directorate of Culinary, MASAMO Medan is part of efforts to support economic recovery by strengthening the culinary subsector.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized that post-disaster recovery should restore not only physical conditions, but also the community’s confidence to resume economic activities.
“Post-disaster recovery is not only about physical recovery, but also about restoring the hope, creativity, and livelihoods of communities,” said Teuku Riefky.

Carrying the spirit of “Pulih Bersama, Bangkit Berdaya” (“Recover Together, Rise with Strength”), the activity was carried out in collaboration with Koepoe Koepoe PT Anggana Catur Prima, the Medan City Tourism Office, and the Tourism, Culture, and Creative Economy Office of North Sumatra Province. The collaboration aims to strengthen the skills, networks, and knowledge of business players so that local economic potential can be developed independently and sustainably.
MASAMO Medan consisted of two main activities. In the first session, participants learned to process local food ingredients, including torch ginger, which was developed into culinary creations by Chef Hasan Basri of the Indonesian Chef Association (ICA) North Sumatra. The session was expected to encourage participants to explore local ingredients and transform them into value-added culinary products.
On the following day, participants received training on financial management with Ify Bustami, a business coach and brand activist. The activity also featured Medan culinary local hero Amrullah Angga, owner of Juragan Dimsum. These sessions were part of efforts to strengthen business players’ capacities in both production skills and business management.

Through this approach, the Ministry of Creative Economy, through the Directorate of Culinary led by Director Romi Astuti, encourages culinary businesses to develop their products, strengthen business management, expand their networks, and optimize market opportunities. These efforts are expected to revive economic activity in local communities while strengthening the independence of business players through a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable culinary subsector.
