Ministry of Creative Economy Supports Culinary Subsector Potential through Roemah Koffie

Jakarta, August 10, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) continues its collaboration with Roemah Koffie to strengthen the culinary subsector, particularly coffee, as a creative product with economic value. The collaboration was marked by the soft opening of Roemah Koffie’s 15th outlet at Agora Mall, Jakarta, on Monday (August 10).

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, tries her hand at the coffee-making process during her visit to Roemah Koffie’s 15th outlet at Agora Mall, Jakarta, Monday (August 10, 2026).

“Creativity is everywhere and can be a way for us to tell stories, including through coffee. In every coffee bean, we believe that the strength lies in storytelling and cultural identity, which must be preserved. Together with Roemah Koffie, the Ministry of Creative Economy believes that coffee is more than just a taste; it is also about the unique narratives carried by the spirit of bringing Indonesian coffee to the global stage,” said Irene Umar.

For Irene Umar, a creativity-based collaborative approach can strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee products while opening strategic opportunities for downstream development. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data recorded the export value of the culinary subsector at US$0.28 billion, or approximately US$280 million, from January to April 2026. Meanwhile, according to August 2025 data, the culinary subsector absorbed the largest number of workers, reaching 16,021,795 people.

“Collaboration with Roemah Koffie will continue to strengthen Indonesia’s culinary subsector, which represents and reflects the dedication of local coffee farmers. Roemah Koffie’s ambition to grow into a global brand deserves support, while remaining rooted in Indonesian culture so that it can contribute to the pride of Indonesia’s creative economy diplomacy,” added Irene Umar.

Meanwhile, Roemah Koffie CEO Felix TJ said the brand aims to provide a comfortable and inclusive space for people to gather, build networks, and establish connections. The concept is reflected in its brown-toned interior, warm yellow lighting, and wooden and rattan furniture, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

“Roemah Koffie aims to be the most comfortable place for visitors. Through a simple name and concept, we want to create an ecosystem for people from all backgrounds to connect and embrace Indonesian coffee into another level. We also extend our gratitude for the support from the Ministry of Creative Economy, which helps strengthen the position of Indonesian coffee to compete in the global market,” said Felix TJ.

The opening of the newest outlet at Agora Mall is expected to provide an opportunity for the public to enjoy Indonesian coffee through an experience that emphasizes quality, cultural creativity, and innovation in creative products. Several exclusive promotions have also been prepared, including a Buy 1 Get 1 promotion for a limited period, two coffees for Rp70,000, and a complimentary classic coffee with every purchase of Koffie Capsule, Koffie Tins, or Koffie Bean Bag.

“We want to become storytellers of the cultural heritage of the Indonesian archipelago and share Indonesia’s cultural wisdom through coffee. This is what makes Roemah Koffie different from other coffee shops. We uphold the highest premium authentic coffee, truly Indonesia, only at Roemah Koffie,” concluded Felix TJ.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy and Roemah Koffie is part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s culinary ecosystem while maintaining a strong focus on creativity and cultural roots. Coffee is not viewed merely as a product, but also as a medium to tell the stories of farmers, production processes, business practitioners, and the culture surrounding them. This collaboration reflects the shared vision of the Ministry of Creative Economy and Roemah Koffie to support the development of a sustainable creative industry.
