The meeting also aimed to accelerate the development of creative talent with global competitiveness, in line with the strategic role of these subsectors within the creative economy ecosystem and their contribution to Indonesia’s economic growth.

“Today, the film, animation, and video subsectors, along with music, are among the new mining sectors of the 21 creative economy subsectors. In terms of economic value, these subsectors are also among our priorities, with very rapid growth. Therefore, we see VIU’s commitment as an opportunity to become a strategic partner for the Ministry of Creative Economy in achieving the four Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that we have set,” said the Minister of Creative Economy at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta, Tuesday (1/9).

The Minister of Creative Economy explained that partnerships with digital platforms such as VIU can be directed not only toward content production and distribution, but also toward capacity building for creative economy practitioners. One such effort could involve developing bootcamps and talent curation programs to equip content creators with skills that meet industry needs while opening access to broader markets. This approach is in line with three of the Ministry of Creative Economy’s flagship programs: Creative Village Activation, Creative Hub Activation, and Creative by Indonesia.

“Certainly, we are ready to become a strategic partner. There are many ways to expand this collaboration, including through bootcamps, mentoring, and curation, so that existing creative talent can be prepared to enter the industry. So, we are looking for local heroes to go national and national champions to go global,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.

VIU is a premium entertainment streaming platform offering a wide range of Asian content, particularly series, films, and original productions. With the strength of its local and regional content, VIU serves as a content distribution platform capable of reaching audiences across Southeast Asia. During the presentation, VIU introduced a reality show program titled VIU Co.Lab, designed to bring together talented content creators from various regions to develop their storytelling skills, receive professional mentoring, and gain premium distribution access through the VIU ecosystem.

The Ministry of Creative Economy views the collaboration with VIU as part of its efforts to position the creative economy as a new engine of national economic growth. Through a combination of talent development, mentoring, technology, content production, and regional distribution, the collaboration is expected to create more employment opportunities while bringing Indonesian content creators and the country’s rich stories to the global stage through competitive talent and creative works.

During the meeting, the Minister of Creative Economy was accompanied by Deputy for Media Creativity, Cecep Rukendi; Minister’s Special Staff for Communication, Media, and Public Services, Renanda Bachtar; Director of Television and Radio, Radi Manggala; and Expert Staff for Strategic and Inter-Institutional Issues, Gemintang Kejora Mallarangeng.
