National Cooperatives Day: Minister of Creative Economy Supports Village Cooperatives Through the Creative Economy Masterplan

Jakarta, July 12, 2026 – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto attended the National Cooperatives Day celebration under the theme "Empowered Cooperatives, Prosperous Indonesia" at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, on Sunday (July 12). In his remarks, President Prabowo emphasized the vital role of cooperatives as the foundation of Indonesia's economic revival, driven from villages and urban communities through community-based economic empowerment.

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya also attended the National Cooperatives Day celebration held under the same theme at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta.

The President highlighted the positive development of Indonesia's cooperative movement, noting that nearly 1,000 cooperatives are now actively operating. The government is optimistic that cooperatives will become the driving force of economic growth from villages to sub-districts.

"Indonesia's cooperative movement will rise as a major economic force. Our economy will grow from villages, sub-districts, and regencies, bringing economic prosperity back to the people," President Prabowo said.

In line with this vision, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that the enactment of the Creative Economy Masterplan (Rencana Induk Ekonomi Kreatif/Rindekraf) 2026–2045 reflects the government's commitment to positioning the creative economy as a new engine of national economic growth.

According to the Minister, the creative economy will be developed through a "Starting from the Regions" approach, which aligns with efforts to strengthen cooperatives—including the Merah Putih Village and Urban Community Cooperatives—by empowering creative economy practitioners at the local level.

"The Masterplan serves as the umbrella framework for national flagship programs, including the Creative Village Activation initiative, which aims to transform villages and urban communities into creative economy hubs. Rindekraf also upholds the principle of inclusivity, ensuring that no one is left behind by empowering youth, women, persons with disabilities, indigenous communities, and people living in disadvantaged, frontier, outermost, and border regions," Minister Teuku Riefky said.

The Creative Village Activation program is expected to strengthen local economic potential by developing creative talent, increasing the added value of creative products, and expanding market access. Through the hexahelix collaboration involving the government, cooperatives, communities, academia, businesses, financial institutions, and the media, villages are expected to become centers of creative economic growth capable of generating employment opportunities while improving community welfare.

The National Cooperatives Day celebration was also attended by ministers and heads of agencies from the Red and White Cabinet, as well as leaders of the Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dekopin).
