Sumedang, October 13, 2026 – Indonesia’s sixth President and Chairman of The Yudhoyono Institute, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), emphasized the importance of sustaining the nation’s transformation through leadership that prioritizes long-term interests in his scientific address at the 68th Anniversary of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad). Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) Teuku Riefky Harsya highlighted the importance of developing young talent and leveraging campus innovation as a source of growth for Indonesia’s creative economy.

“Para pemimpin setiap generasi memiliki tanggung jawab moral untuk memastikan transformasi bangsa tidak terhenti. Kepentingan jangka pendek, termasuk kepentingan politik, tidak boleh mengesampingkan tujuan jangka panjang negara. Kita harus memastikan kemajuan Indonesia dalam 10, 20, hingga 30 tahun mendatang tetap bergerak ke arah yang benar,” ujar SBY dalam orasi ilmiahnya di Bale Sawala, Gedung Rektorat Unpad, Jatinangor, Sumedang, Jawa Barat, Selasa (13/10).Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) Teuku Riefky Harsya attended the scientific oration commemorating the 68th anniversary of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), Sumedang, Tuesday (October 13, 2026).

“Leaders of every generation have a moral responsibility to ensure that the nation’s transformation continues. Short-term interests, including political interests, must not take precedence over the country’s long-term goals. We must ensure that Indonesia’s progress over the next 10, 20, and even 30 years continues in the right direction,” SBY said in his scientific address at Bale Sawala, Unpad Rectorate Building, Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java, on Tuesday (October 13).

SBY also highlighted the development of artificial intelligence (AI) as one of the challenges in digital transformation. He stressed the importance of managing technology responsibly so that its advancement can strengthen education, the economy, and various strategic sectors, while also anticipating the risks it may pose.

Minister Riefky, who attended the event themed “FISIP Unpad for Indonesia: Upholding Integrity, Driving Innovation, and Building Collaboration,” views universities as important sources of ideas and creative works that have the potential to be developed into products and services with economic value. Strengthening ties between academia and industry is essential to ensure that innovation does not stop at the development stage but can be applied more widely.

“The creative potential within universities must not stop at ideas or research findings. Innovation needs a pathway to industry, intellectual property protection, and access to markets. This is where collaboration among universities, the government, and businesses becomes essential, enabling young people’s creative works to grow into competitive enterprises while creating jobs,” Minister Riefky said.
