Jakarta, July 2, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) is exploring a strategic collaboration with the Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI) to expand the promotion and global market access of Indonesian fashion products. The initiative was discussed during an audience meeting on the preparation of Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2026 at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office in Jakarta.
Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, receives a courtesy visit from the Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2026 organizing committee at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta, Thursday, July 2, 2026.
"We welcome the upcoming Indonesia Fashion Week 2026. This collaboration will serve as an important economic driver in opening broader international market opportunities. By integrating the Ministry's facilitation programs with IFW's industry network, we can accelerate the incubation of local designers, improve product quality standards, and map the export potential of Indonesian fashion to strategic global markets," said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya on Thursday (July 2).
The organization of IFW 2026 marks a strategic opportunity for the Ministry to strengthen the national fashion supply chain while measuring the sector's tangible economic impact. The fashion subsector has consistently proven its position as one of the key pillars of Indonesia's creative economy, contributing 14.77 percent to the creative economy's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025.
In addition to dominating the domestic market, the fashion subsector also plays a significant role in Indonesia's international trade, accounting for 58.55 percent of total creative economy exports during the January–April 2026 period. These efforts build upon the achievements of last year's IFW, which featured more than 200 brands and designers, engaged 4,000 creative professionals, welcomed 34,000 visitors, and generated a 50 percent increase in digital transactions.

"The Ministry of Creative Economy will support capacity-building programs for participating fashion MSMEs while expanding promotional efforts to ensure the success of this event. Fashion is more than a trend—it is a key pillar of Indonesia's creative economy with strong potential to compete on the global stage," Minister Teuku Riefky added.
Indonesia Fashion Week 2026 is an annual event that brings together the entire fashion ecosystem, including designers, academics, accessory manufacturers, investors, and buyers. Organized by APPMI, the event is committed to facilitating trade exhibitions, business matching sessions, industry forums, and fashion shows inspired by Indonesia's rich cultural heritage.
"We at APPMI, having served Indonesia's fashion industry for more than three decades, greatly appreciate the Ministry's warm support for strengthening the capacity of local designers. We are ready to work hand in hand with the Ministry to expand the promotion of Indonesian creative products and open wider access to international markets," said Poppy Dharsono, Chairwoman of APPMI.
