Jakarta, March 9, 2025 – Today, Indonesia commemorates the 12th National Music Day, a special occasion to appreciate the vital role of music in the nation’s life and cultural identity.

Music is more than just an artistic expression—it is a reflection of national identity and a driving force within the creative economy sector.
As part of its commitment to fostering a more advanced music ecosystem, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency continues to strengthen regulations and expand access for musicians and industry players to enhance their global competitiveness.

Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized the importance of ensuring the welfare of everyone involved in the music industry.
“We want to ensure that Indonesia’s music industry not only thrives creatively but also provides sustainable welfare for all involved—from musicians and producers to behind-the-scenes professionals,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.

He further noted that National Music Day is a moment for all industry stakeholders to deepen their love for, support of, and contribution to the development of Indonesian music.
Through strong innovation and collaboration, Indonesian music is expected to reach a broader international stage. One of the ministry’s efforts includes partnerships through the Hexahelix collaboration model and the implementation of training and incubation programs.
As part of its efforts to strengthen the music ecosystem, the Ministry of Creative Economy will continue to develop various initiatives, including improved access to copyright protection, streamlined licensing processes, and support for music distribution across digital platforms.

“Music is one of the most promising subsectors of the creative economy. That’s why we will continue to drive policies that support the growth and competitiveness of the national music industry,” he added.
In this year’s National Music Day celebration, the Ministry of Creative Economy also invites all musicians, composers, sound engineers, artist managers, producers, record labels, music critics, and other professionals to use this moment as a platform for collaboration and coordination in strengthening Indonesia’s music industry.

The government remains committed to supporting the music industry through musician-friendly regulations, proper infrastructure, and various programs aimed at improving the welfare of industry players.
