Trenggalek, 28 September 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy encourages the 29th Open Trenggalek Jaranan Festival (FJTT) as “the new engine of growth”, demonstrating that traditional arts can become productive drivers of local creative economy. This was highlighted by The Ministry of Creative Economy Secretary Dessy Ruhati during the festival opening.
Sekretaris Kementerian Ekonomi Kreatif, Dessy Ruhati, membuka Festival Jaranan Trenggalek Terbuka (FJTT) ke-29, Trenggalek, Minggu (28/09/2025).
In her remarks, Dessy Ruhati expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Trenggalek Regency Government, artists, communities, and all parties sustaining this cultural festival. She emphasized that FJTT serves as both a space for creative expression and a reflection of Trenggalek’s community identity.
“Trenggalek has the Jaranan tradition, which is not only a regional identity but also a national pride. This festival does more than preserve traditional arts; it opens opportunities for the creative economy to flourish. From Jaranan performances, new ecosystems emerge—music, crafts, culinary arts, and other creative products—creating economic value. This proves that arts and culture can be the new engine of growth, empowering communities creatively and productively,” she stated.
Dessy Ruhati concluded her speech with a call to maintain collective spirit and creativity.

“Through cultural arts, let us build a sustainable creative economy ecosystem that makes our region proud and strengthens Indonesia’s identity globally,” she affirmed.
FJTT showcases traditional arts, including Jaranan, a heritage performance art that has existed for centuries. Trenggalek is known for its unique type, Turonggo Yakso, positioning the region as a hub for the preservation and development of Jaranan in Indonesia.
Member of the Indonesian Parliament Commission VII, Novita Hardini, remarked that the festival is not merely a performance but is rich in life values—struggle, togetherness, and self-discipline. These moral messages make Jaranan relevant across generations, while also inspiring creative innovation. FJTT also strengthens Trenggalek’s image as a cultural destination.
Every edition of the festival attracts public attention from across Indonesia and even internationally. This potential is expected to further establish Trenggalek as both a cultural center and a driver of the local economy.
Trenggalek Regent Mochamad Nur Arifin noted that FJTT is more than entertainment; it is a concrete step toward making Trenggalek a global center for Jaranan.

“Local culture grows stronger when combined with creativity from outside. FJTT is a platform that facilitates this collaboration,” said Nur Arifin.
Cross-sector collaboration is key to achieving this goal. Synergy between the government, art communities, entrepreneurs, academics, media, and society is essential so that Jaranan not only survives as a tradition but also develops into a source of economic and innovative value.
In this context, Director for Visual and Performing Arts, Dadam Mahdar, will provide support for the visual and performing arts subsectors, paying special attention to the Jaranan festival to further develop Trenggalek’s creative economy ecosystem.
