Ambon, June 1, 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy, through the Directorate of Music under the Deputy of Media Creativity, launched the Creative Acceleration (Akselerasi Kreatif/AKTIF) program Music in Ambon. As one of the ministry’s priority areas for creative economy development, Ambon plays a key role in advancing locally driven national economic growth.

The ministry chose Ambon based on its strong musical heritage and its recognition as a UNESCO City of Music, alongside its vibrant music culture deeply rooted in the local community. Through the program, a piece titled Mama Papa Pung Pasang was supported for production as a professional music video and distributed across multiple digital platforms to maximize its monetization potential.
Agustini Rahayu, Deputy for Media Creativity, emphasized the importance of involving local talents. “Promoting the spirit of collaboration and local empowerment, it’s important to highlight that every talent involved in the making of this music video comes from Ambon, which aligns with our main goal: to empower local creative economies to produce high-quality musical works,” Agustini said.

The collaboration involved various local creative figures, including Willy Sopacua, a musician known for his strong ethnic sound; Kaihulu Band, an ethnic-reggae group that has performed on international stages; and Rocky Tahapary, a visual creator recognized for his work blending local culture and digital art.
The music video was produced over seven days, from May 28 to June 3, 2025, with scenes filmed at strategic locations, including Paragliding Hill, Pintu Kota Beach, the City of Music landmark, Negeri Laha, and Negeri Rutong.

The song Mama Papa Pung Pasang conveys a moral message emphasizing on parental advice as a guiding principle in life. These values aim to resonate with younger generations while also strengthening the cultural identity of Maluku.
Aligned with the vision of Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya, the program is expected to inspire creative economy champions in Ambon to highlight the importance of hexahelix collaboration in building a competitive regional creative economy and contributing to national growth through the creative sector, positioning the creative economy as the New Engine of Growth.
