Jakarta, 21 November 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency is holding the Creative Acceleration Program (AKTIF) for the Film and Animation subsectors: Distribution and Promotion Bootcamp in Jakarta from 21–23 November 2025. The program aims to strengthen the capacity of young filmmakers while expanding access to domestic and international distribution and promotion of film works.
Deputi Bidang Kreativitas Media Kementerian Ekonomi Kreatif, Agustini Rahayu, memberi sambutan pada program Akselerasi Kreatif (AKTIF) Subsektor Film dan Animasi: Bootcamp Distribusi dan Promosi di Hotel Morrissey, Jakarta. Sabtu (21/11/2025).
According to data from Bicara Box Office, Indonesian films have attracted approximately 65 million viewers as of mid-November 2025. The Indonesian Cinema Association (GPBSI) reports that 178 national films were released in theaters in 2025.
Deputy for Media Creativity, Agustini Rahayu, emphasized that this positive momentum must be further strengthened through more targeted marketing and distribution strategies.
“This is proof that quality and quantity are moving forward. Our task now is to push marketing and distribution,” said Deputy Rahayu on Friday, 21 November 2025, at Hotel Morrissey, Jakarta.

The AKTIF program is designed to accelerate the downstream process of filmmaking so that creative works do not stop at production alone, but evolve into economically valuable products capable of competing globally. This approach forms part of the strategy to strengthen a sustainable national film ecosystem.
“AKTIF is not just a collaborative space, but an accelerator for young filmmakers ready to push boundaries and compete in the global industry,” Deputy Rahayu added.
Human resource development is also a primary concern. Although Indonesia’s creative talents are proven to be strong, the biggest challenge lies in identifying, mapping, and connecting top talents with industry needs. For this reason, the Ministry of Creative Economy continues to develop a series of ongoing bootcamps and acceleration programs through intensive communication with regional stakeholders to identify local challenges and formulate solutions together.

“This remains an important task because promotion and marketing are fundamental pillars in strengthening this sector,” she noted.
This year, professional curators Sastha Sunu, Adrian Jonathan Pasaribu, and Ayu Diah Cempaka selected 35 works from 61 applicants in the film category to participate in the bootcamp. Participants come from creative communities and production houses, focusing on readiness to enter the market.
Meanwhile, the animation program features talents from various regions who already have mature concepts and IPs, and require support in business modeling, distribution, and market readiness.

Among all participants, three top works will have the opportunity to receive promotion facilitation at JAFF Market and Asia TV Forum & Market 2025 in Singapore as strategic pathways to the international market. Director of Film, Animation, and Video at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Doni Setiawan, highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between production and distribution.
“The potential of young Indonesian filmmakers is tremendous. However, many works stop at the production stage without reaching audiences. AKTIF bridges this gap with practical sessions from industry professionals and real promotional opportunities at international market forums,” he explained.
Through AKTIF Film and Animation, the Ministry aims to cultivate professional filmmakers and animators who are not only artistically skilled but also understand distribution and promotion as key factors for the sustainability of their works. The program is part of the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the film and animation subsectors as competitive, inclusive pillars of the creative economy contributing to national economic growth based on regional potential.

The bootcamp is conducted in collaboration with Rangkai, Cinema Poetica, and Metra TV, featuring intensive sessions covering critical aspects of the film value chain, including legal distribution, promotion strategies, storytelling, commercial industry ecosystems, and pitching techniques. Professional practitioners such as Barry Maheswara, Novi Hanabi, Aline Jusria, Redemptus Rangga Raditya, and Aisya Fabien serve as mentors.
