Wakil Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Irene Umar, ASIK, Kemerdekaan: Kolaborasi Kementerian Ekraf dan FESMI, Jakarta, Senin (18/08/2025).
“The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to strengthening the creative value chain, especially within the music subsector. We hope that collaboration between the Government and FESMI can serve as inspiration for fellow creative economy players in the music industry. We also believe that the collaborative spirit of celebrating the 80th Independence Day can further stimulate economic circulation in the music industry and strengthen the creative economy as a new engine of growth,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar on Monday, 18 August 2025.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene, accompanied by Presidential Special Staff for Creative Economy, Yovie Widianto, attended the event in person at Autograph Tower Jakarta, where ASIK, Independence! was held. Today’s agenda is a follow-up to a previous audience meeting with FESMI on 18 June 2025, which served as an open dialogue platform to align visions and formulate strategic steps for music to become a catalyst for the creative economy. The event series also included a discussion session titled “Musicians Ask and Speak Up” with the Ministry of Creative Economy.

“The existence of a musicians’ union makes coordination more effective, especially since many Indonesian musicians already operate at an international level. The Ministry of Creative Economy is not only advocating for royalty-related matters, but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining value to ensure all elements of the music industry have the capacity to generate proper economic outcomes. We will also continue cross-sector and cross-ministry collaborations, which require synchronization to deliver the right solutions and policies,” Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene stated.
Presidential Special Staff Yovie Widianto believes that FESMI can continue to contribute significantly to shaping the landscape of Indonesian music. Yovie remains committed to supporting the talents of Indonesia so that the music ecosystem becomes more advanced, sustainable, and inspiring.

“I fully understand that musicians, singers, and composers are part of a mutual symbiosis that is essential to Indonesia’s music industry. Moreover, FESMI members are highly productive in their creative work, and therefore understand how to secure the proportional rights they have fought and worked for together,” Yovie said.
FESMI is a professional musicians’ federation serving as a coalition and coordinator of eight regional musicians’ unions across Indonesia and has been legally established since 2020. FESMI focuses on empowering and protecting the profession of musicians through research and policy recommendations aimed at contributing to a more constructive and sustainable music industry ecosystem.
