Jakarta, 19 June 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting creative community spaces that directly contribute to improving literacy and educational opportunities for children. This commitment was reflected in Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar’s visit to Teras Aksara in Bekasi, West Java, on Friday (19/6).
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar visited Teras Aksara in Bekasi, West Java, on Friday (19 June 2026).
The visit provided an opportunity for the Deputy Minister to observe firsthand a community-based creative industry initiative while reaffirming the importance of collaboration in expanding access to quality non-formal education.
“The Ministry of Creative Economy highly appreciates community-driven initiatives such as Teras Aksara, which serve as educational and interactive spaces for young people. We believe that collaboration between the government, literacy communities, and creative industry stakeholders will accelerate equitable access to quality non-formal education across Indonesia,” said Irene Umar.
During the visit, Irene also encouraged the children to dream big and not allow limitations to stand in the way of achieving their aspirations. According to her, the courage to keep moving forward and the ability to master multiple languages are essential skills for navigating an increasingly interconnected world.

“Remember that true success is not measured by how much material wealth we pursue, but by how much happiness we create and how widely we can share benefits with others, because the future of Indonesia depends on all of you,” Irene said.
The visit included a Learning Through Play with Board Games activity organized in collaboration with the Indonesian Board Game Industry Association (APIBGI), promoting the use of locally developed board games as an interactive educational tool.
Teras Aksara itself is a free non-formal learning center established in 2003 under the principle of Education Not for Sale. During the event, students and administrators showcased their creative learning activities and presented an exhibition titled Museum of Children’s Dreams.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister was accompanied by Special Staff to the Minister for Strengthening the Creative Economy Ecosystem and Data, Jago Anggara.
