Jakarta, April 22, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, attended the opening of ART Jakarta Gardens 2025 at Hutan Kota by Plataran, Jakarta, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The open-air visual art exhibition at Hutan Kota by Plataran received a positive response from artists, collectors, and stakeholders.

In her remarks, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar stated that the presence of ART Jakarta Gardens, with its unique choice of venue at Hutan Kota by Plataran, brings a refreshing experience for both art practitioners and enthusiasts while also drawing us closer to values of history, nature conservation, and cultural diversity.
“On this occasion, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to all artists, galleries, and partners who support this event and participate in creating a collaborative space for synergy and creativity. In line with the realization of Asta Ekraf, we at the Ministry of Creative Economy fully support and hope that ART Jakarta Gardens will continue to be held annually, opening more opportunities for artists and galleries to remain active and collaborate,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene in her speech.
ART Jakarta Gardens has now entered its fourth year. Since its inception in 2022, the event has sought to bring breakthroughs and innovations. Its debut offered a refreshing presence amid the absence of art events during the pandemic’s social restrictions. The positive reception from artists, collectors, and other art ecosystem stakeholders encouraged ART Jakarta Gardens to return this year.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene expressed hope that such art festivals can help boost the national economy, elevating Indonesia’s art festivals to compete with similar events abroad.
“At ART Jakarta Gardens 2025, held at Hutan Kota by Plataran, we can enjoy art in a calming atmosphere. Many may not even know that such a beautiful place exists right in the heart of Jakarta. Hopefully, this event helps more people discover and appreciate this venue,” she added.
She also emphasized that the event allows artists to showcase their works to a broader audience. “For Indonesian artists spread from Sabang to Merauke, this is a gathering space where people can truly see who our artists are,” Irene stressed.
Running from April 22–27, ART Jakarta Gardens 2025 presents an exhibition that harmoniously integrates indoor and outdoor contexts. Artworks are displayed inside two custom-built tents at the Hutan Kota site and along the sculpture garden that stretches across its lush tropical landscape in central Jakarta.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene was accompanied by Acting Director of Visual Arts and Performing Arts, Dadam Mahdar. Also present at the opening were Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha, ART Jakarta Fair Director Tom Tandio, and Plataran Indonesia Co-Founder and CEO Yozua Makes.
