Jakarta, June 4, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized that visual arts play a strategic role in strengthening Indonesia’s position on the global stage. Visual arts are also an integral part of Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, delivered remarks and officially opened ArtMoments Jakarta 2026 in Jakarta, Thursday (4/6/2026).
The statement was delivered by the Minister of Creative Economy while opening ArtMoments Jakarta 2026 in Jakarta on Thursday (4/6). According to him, amid rapid global changes, art serves as an important medium for building connections, enriching perspectives, and strengthening cultural identity.
“The creative economy today is not merely about economic transactions, but also about how creativity becomes a nation’s soft power. Works of art have the ability to build influence, open dialogue, and strengthen Indonesia’s cultural identity in the eyes of the world,” said Teuku Riefky.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, as a demonstration of the ministry’s full support for Indonesia’s visual arts industry.

The Minister of Creative Economy noted that the theme of ArtMoments Jakarta 2026, “Intimacy of Offerings: Matter, Memory, and Connection,” is highly relevant to current global conditions. The theme invites the public to reflect on the importance of human connections, cultural memory, and values passed down from one generation to the next.
Teuku Riefky also expressed appreciation for ArtMoments Jakarta’s consistency in providing a platform that brings together artists, galleries, collectors, curators, and creative industry players from various countries.
“The participation of international exhibitors in this event demonstrates that Indonesia is becoming increasingly recognized in global art discourse,” he explained.
ArtMoments Jakarta, which will be open to the public from June 5–7, aims to attract 25,000 visitors and features approximately 75 exhibitors, involving participants from 12 countries and dozens of leading art galleries. In addition to showcasing international exhibitors, one of the event’s main attractions is the exhibition of legendary works by renowned Indonesian masters such as S. Sudjojono, Affandi, and Mochtar Apin.

“Through the theme Offerings, ArtMoments Jakarta 2026 serves as a meeting space to preserve the legacy of Indonesia’s visual art masters. After all, art is not only about what we see today, but also about the values and cultural identity that we build for the future,” said ArtMoments Fair Director, Sendy Widjaja.
The presence of the Minister of Creative Economy at ArtMoments Jakarta 2026 reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing the creative economy, particularly in the field of visual arts, through the Deputy for Cultural Creativity of the Ministry of Creative Economy.
During the event, the Minister of Creative Economy was accompanied by Special Staff to the Minister for Strategic and Inter-Institutional Affairs, Rian Syaf; Head of the Bureau for Communication, Kiagoos Irvan Faisal; Director of Visual Arts and Performing Arts of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Dadam Mahdar; and the Minister’s Expert Staff, Gemintang K. Mallarangeng and Panji Purboyo.
