Bandung, 22 November 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency reaffirmed its commitment to positioning digital technology as a driver, not a replacement, of human talent within Indonesia’s national creative economy ecosystem. This was highlighted during the Creative Economy Agency Developer Day (BDD) 2025 held in Bandung on Saturday, 22 November 2025, which welcomed over 1,000 selected developers.
Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya, memberi sambutan pada acara Badan Ekraf Developer Day (BDD) 2025 di Trans Convention Center, Bandung, Sabtu (22/11/2025).
“Digital-based creativity plays a key role in advancing regional development. BDD 2025 serves as a meeting point for digital creative economy drivers from various cities and districts to shape Indonesia’s creative future. The BDD program not only provides technical training but also cultivates entrepreneurial character, enabling Indonesian talent to become creators of digital products, not just users,” said Minister of Creative Economy/Head of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya.
This year, Bandung once again hosted BDD 2025, attracting over 2,300 applicants, with 1,000 participants selected for in-person attendance. Participants are expected not only to acquire new knowledge but also to create digital works that inspire society and shape Indonesia’s future.
“BDD 2025 reflects the Government’s attention to the rapidly growing digital economy in Indonesia. The application subsector, in particular, has attracted the highest investment, contributing to 66 percent of the annual creative economy investment target. President Prabowo emphasized the need for Indonesia’s youth to adapt, innovate digitally, and maintain national identity while keeping pace with global progress,” the Minister added.

West Java, as a priority province for creative economy development, contributes significantly to the national economy with 6.24 million creative workers in 2025 (BPS data). Bandung earned the highest score in the West region for the Indonesian Digital Society Index and received the Most Attractive Investment Project award at the West Java Investment Summit (WJIS) 2025.
“The creative economy is Indonesia’s future. The keys to managing the creative industry are talent, technology, and tolerance. It is not just about leveraging existing opportunities, but also creating digital opportunities for the creative economy,” said West Java Provincial Secretary Herman Suryatman.
The 2024 edition of BDD was also successfully held in Bandung and Yogyakarta. BDD 2025 continues this effort to strengthen Indonesia’s digital talent ecosystem, serving as a benchmark for digital capacity development. The event took place at the Trans Convention Center, The Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung, on 22 November 2025.

Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology at Creative Economy, Muhammad Neil El Himam, highlighted that Indonesia’s developer ecosystem benefits from a massive talent pool, agile innovation culture, and the largest digital market in Southeast Asia.
“The strength of Indonesia’s digital talent must be guided to achieve global competitiveness, making the creative economy a vital pillar of national economic growth,” added Deputy Neil.
BDD 2025 carried the theme “Accelerating Creative Transformation Through Digital Talent” and partnered with Dicoding, the official partner of Google Developers and Google Cloud in Indonesia. The event served as a meeting platform for the government and developer community to foster new creativity in applications, web, and Internet of Things (IoT) through training aligned with global industry standards.

“Participants are expected to network, learn from experts, and transfer knowledge that can lead to new startups. Many BDD alumni are already working in multinational companies, making BDD a program that produces developers of not only local but also global quality,” said Narenda Wicaksono, CEO of Dicoding.
At BDD 2025 Bandung, the Ministry of Creative Economy offered three learning tracks designed to meet the evolving technology ecosystem: Mobile Development, Full-Stack Development, and Artificial Intelligence. The program provides more than technical courses—it connects participants with industry practices, real cases, and the latest technology developments.
The Ministry views strengthening developer capacity as a strategic element in maintaining Indonesia’s competitiveness. Since 2016, BDD has trained over 215,000 participants, making it one of Southeast Asia’s largest digital talent development programs. Through BDD 2025, the government aims to produce more technology creators who are not only workforce-ready but also capable of leading digital transformation and strengthening Indonesia’s startup ecosystem globally.
