Attending the Indonesian Pavilion at Osaka World Expo 2025, Minister of Creative Economy: A Showcase of the Nation's Creativity and Culture

Osaka, October 13, 2025 – The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized that the success of the Indonesian Pavilion, visited by over 3.5 million people at the Osaka World Expo 2025, is proof that Indonesia is not just a participant but an inspiration to the world. This statement was delivered by the Minister of Creative Economy directly during the pavilion's closing ceremony in Osaka, Japan, which marked the successful six-month showcase of the nation's creativity.

"This nation shows its identity through culture, creativity, and innovation. More than 3.5 million visitors came to the Indonesian Pavilion, proving that the works of Indonesian people have received wide international recognition," said the Minister at Yumeshima Island, Osaka, Japan, on Sunday, 13 October 2025.

The Osaka World Expo 2025 is the third-largest event in the world, after the Olympics and the World Cup. This international exhibition ran for six months, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, under the theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives".

A total of 150 countries and 25 international organizations participated in the event, which focused on sustainable development goals (SDGs), technological innovation, and global social and cultural development. Minister Teuku Riefky expressed his pride in the success of the Indonesian Pavilion in capturing global attention.

The Indonesian Pavilion was presented with the grand theme "Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future," illustrating the harmony between nature, culture, and the future. The Ministry of Creative Economy collaborated with Market & Museum and the DH Foundation to curate five leading brands representing creative economy sub-sectors at the Indonesian Pavilion's souvenir shop: Gelap Ruang Jiwa (crafts), Desa Timun (local IP), Seni Kanji (visual communication design), KAR Jewellery (crafts), and Galeri Ulos Sianipar (crafts/fashion).

In addition to featuring curated brands, the Ministry of Creative Economy also opened participation for creative industry players through the Rolling Exhibition program, which was held in two periods. In the June–August period, more than 25 brands participated, while in the September–October period, an additional 10 creative brands took part. This initiative was part of the Ministry’s continuous effort to expand global exposure for Indonesia’s creative economy products.

The Minister of Creative Economy affirmed that the Indonesian Pavilion was not only an exhibition space but also a symbol of creative economic progress rooted in national cultural values. The Minister of Creative Economy added that the success of the Indonesian Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo 2025 is a crucial momentum in solidifying Indonesia's position as one of the world's creativity hubs.

"It is remarkable to see how creative economy talent displays works that reflect the nation's spirit, ranging from music, crafts, and fashion to new technology. All were warmly received by Japanese and international visitors. We should be proud because, through this Pavilion, Indonesia was not just present as a participant, but also as an inspiration. Thank you to all parties who have worked hard to realize this showcase of national pride in the eyes of the world," said the Minister of Creative Economy.

The Ministry of Creative Economy continues to encourage creative industry players to step confidently onto the global stage through innovation, collaboration, and culture-based products.
