Jakarta, June 4, 2026 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that the animated film Garuda di Dadaku serves as proof of the transformation of Indonesia’s animation industry, which is becoming increasingly capable of creating works based on local intellectual property (IP) and competing in the global market. The statement was delivered during the film’s special screening ahead of its theatrical release on June 11, 2026.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, attended the Special Screening with the Creative Economy Community of the animated film Garuda di Dadaku at Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, Thursday (4/6/2026).
According to the Minister of Creative Economy, the film further highlights the progress in the quality of Indonesia’s animation industry. Its dynamic sports visuals and detailed digital cinematography demonstrate that local talent is capable of producing works that meet international standards.
“This is a strong indicator that our animation industry is no longer merely supporting foreign productions, but is now capable of standing independently as a primary producer of competitive intellectual property on the international stage,” said Teuku Riefky at Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, on Thursday (4/6).
With this achievement, Teuku Riefky expressed optimism that Garuda di Dadaku will generate a positive impact on both the film and animation subsectors. Its success is expected to encourage the emergence of more local IPs capable of competing at the international level.

“Garuda di Dadaku is an intellectual property that has grown alongside generations of Indonesian audiences. For us, bringing it back in animated form and seeing it selected for the animation competition at the Shanghai International Film Festival is proof that the collaboration of 15 animation studios and more than 500 animation creators from across Indonesia can produce a work that showcases the tremendous potential of the national animation industry. We hope Indonesian audiences will continue to provide space and support for local works so that Indonesia’s animation industry can grow even stronger in the future,” said Ronny Gani, Director of Garuda di Dadaku.
