Audience with Bolmut Regency, Ministry of Creative Economy Ready to Collaborate to Strengthen Regional Creative Economy

Jakarta, 19 September 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, reinforced the national strategy for creative economy development with a focus on strengthening regional institutions. This strategic step was realized through an audience with the Government of Bolaang Mongondow Utara (Bolmut) Regency to accelerate the establishment of a dedicated office or agency handling the local creative economy sector.

Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya, menerima audiensi Bupati Bolaang Mongondow Utara (Bolmut), Sirajudin Lasena, Jakarta, Jumat (19/09/2025).

“A nation with a thriving creative industry is a nation with strong cultural roots. Indonesia has significant cultural assets, yet our creative products still need improvement to be competitive in the global market. The role of both central and regional governments is crucial to achieve this,” said Minister  of Creative Economy during the audience with Bolmut Regent Sirajudin Lasena at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta, Friday, 19 September 2025.

The Minister  of Creative Economy emphasized that Indonesia’s creative economy strength must originate from the regions. He added that the global economy is shifting from reliance on agriculture toward creative industries, driven by cultural heritage, knowledge, and technology.

“Culture is the upstream; the downstream is the creative industry driven by innovation and technology. This is why a regional creative economy office is important to communicate intensively with the Ministry, so programs can be effectively implemented,” explained the Minister of Creative Economy.

Institutional development of the creative economy in Indonesia has shown significant progress. Five years ago, only eight provinces and 18 regencies/cities had creative economy offices. Currently, 20 provinces and 62 regencies/cities are in the process of establishing local regulations for creative economy offices. The Ministry of Creative Economy is currently focusing on incubation and acceleration programs supporting national priorities.

“Given this situation, our programs are oriented toward creating quality jobs, especially for digitally literate young workers, while also supporting the strength of the middle class. We hope the creative economy can become a new growth engine in Bolmut, complementing existing natural resources and plantations,” said Minister of Creative Economy.

Regent of Bolmut, Sirajudin Lasena, expressed his appreciation for the guidance provided. According to him, several subsectors of the creative economy in Bolmut have developed rapidly, particularly driven by youth.

“Our visit aims to coordinate the establishment of creative economy institutions in the region. We received many inputs that we will follow up on. Upon returning, we will strengthen regional institutions, empower youth communities, and make them centers of new economic growth,” he said.

As an initial step, the Bolmut government will conduct research in collaboration with universities to ensure policies are data-driven.

This meeting marks a strategic step to strengthen the synergy between central and regional governments in promoting a local wisdom-based creative economy ecosystem.

The audience was also attended by Head of PUTR Office Abdul Jalil Pandialang, Head of Health Office Ali Dumbela, and Bolmut Regency DPRD member Fikri Gam.
