Jakarta, March 12, 2025 – The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, held an audience with Rakyat Merdeka at Menara Merdeka, Jakarta, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The meeting focused on exploring potential collaboration to support the development of the creative economy, enhance digital marketing for creative economy products, and open up new opportunities to create quality jobs.

“The creative economy plays a vital role in driving national economic growth. The media serves a critical function as a provider of objective and accurate information to the public. Therefore, we are exploring the possibility of working together to further develop the creative economy, including expanding quality employment opportunities,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky during the discussion.
Minister of Creative Economy Riefky stated that the Ministry is committed to strengthening the creative economy ecosystem, particularly through the hexahelix approach. Currently, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency has identified 17 subsectors and 15 priority cities as part of its ongoing development strategy.
“We are taking a collaborative approach with various stakeholders as part of the hexahelix model—engaging with media, communities or associations, financial institutions, businesses, academia, and government bodies. We need insights from media experts like Rakyat Merdeka to share perspectives on the shift from an information-based economy to a creativity-based economy. Especially in today’s digital age, the creative economy is closely tied to media as a key platform for creative expression, product marketing, and uncovering new opportunities,” Minister of Creative Economy Riefky explained.

He also emphasized that the media has long been a starting point in supporting the creative economy by spreading information and shaping public understanding of the sector. Minister Riefky expressed hope that the Ministry and Rakyat Merdeka can collaborate on several fronts—including downstreaming of information, joint news reporting initiatives, and marketing creative economy products through digital platforms.
Meanwhile, President Director of Rakyat Merdeka, Kiki Iswara, welcomed the meeting and stated that the discussion provided valuable insights into the current development of Indonesia’s creative economy.
“We’ve gained a clearer picture of how the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency is contributing to the advancement of Indonesia’s economy. The creative economy is not only expected to boost income for the people, but also give young generations faster access to new types of employment through training and development programs,” said Kiki Iswara.
He also expressed Rakyat Merdeka’s readiness to facilitate the dissemination of information related to the creative economy as part of strengthening the broader ecosystem.

“This brings new hope for creative industry activities. We are ready to collaborate and support efforts to elevate the creative economy. It will further strengthen what the Indonesian government is doing, and ensure it is well understood and widely known by the public,” he added.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy for Strategic Development of the Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi, and Acting Head of the Communications Bureau, Kiagoos Irvan Faisal.
