Collaboration Between the Ministry of Creative Economy and Volkswagen Strengthens Creative Talents by Showcasing Two Local IPs

Yogyakarta, 18 July 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy (Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency) strengthened its strategic collaboration with Volkswagen Indonesia through the Jogja Volkswagen Festival (JVWF) 2025. As part of this collaboration, the Ministry of Creative Economy is providing a platform for local Intellectual Property (IP) to gain wider recognition.

JVWF 2025 marked the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the VW Bus and is the largest Volkswagen community festival in Indonesia, held on 10–13 July 2025 at the Innovation & Creativity Arena of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Volkswagen collaborated with two local IPs, Tabe Thay and Tenka Street, for a live art collaboration painting their works directly onto the VW ID. Buzz.

Through the live painting action featured in this automotive and lifestyle festival, the momentum will continue as part of the creative journey of the VW ID. Buzz to the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025, to be held on 24 July–3 August 2025. This collaboration follows an audience session with Volkswagen Indonesia on 3 July 2025.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy continues to play an active role in promoting cross-sector collaboration and reinforcing the presence of creative talents in public spaces. The electric ID. Buzz vehicle can serve as an artistic expression medium for the very first time,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar on Friday, 18 July 2025.

"Kementerian Ekonomi Kreatif senantiasa berperan aktif dalam mendorong kolaborasi lintas sektor serta memperkuat eksistensi para pejuang kreatif di ruang publik. Kendaraan listrik dari ID. Buzz bisa berfungsi sebagai medium ekspresi seni untuk pertama kalinya," ucap Wakil Menteri Ekraf (Wamen Ekraf) Irene Umar pada Jumat, 18 Juli 2025.

“This collaboration with Volkswagen Indonesia is proof that local IPs are remarkable and serves as a bridge that brings Indonesian creativity onto the international stage alongside a global automotive brand,” added Deputy Minister Irene.

Not only did the ID. Buzz appear as an iconic symbol at Indonesia’s largest Volkswagen festival, it also demonstrated its capability as a long-distance electric vehicle through a journey from Jakarta to Yogyakarta spanning more than 560 km, requiring only a single charging stop. Media and Marketing Head of JVWF 2025, Andhika Yopi, also emphasized that JVWF 2025 featured diverse collaborations expected to generate economic impact.

“Through strategic collaboration with PT Garuda Mataram Motor, the official distributor of Volkswagen in Indonesia, JVWF 2025 not only celebrates VW’s long-standing automotive heritage but also introduces its latest electric vehicle innovations. This is concrete proof that heritage and the future of automotive innovation can coexist,” stated Andhika Yopi.

Carrying the theme Blast From The Past, JVWF 2025 showcased the timeless appeal of classic Volkswagen vehicles that remain relevant today, while simultaneously presenting VW’s latest electric vehicle innovations. JVWF 2025 also represented intergenerational connection through the JVWF Music Fest, featuring legendary musician Katon Bagaskara during the gala dinner. The entire series of events aligns with the spirit of the New Buzz in Life campaign
