Creative Collaboration & Local Food: Ministry of Creative Economy Advances Creative Economy Integration into the SPPG Ecosystem

Jakarta, 9 December 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency is encouraging collaboration between the creative sector and local food security initiatives through full support for the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) ecosystem. At the 2025 SPPG Inspiradaya Awards held today, the Ministry emphasized that community empowerment and creativity are key to generating added value and strengthening the grassroots economy. The SPPG program itself has involved more than 33,000 MSMEs, demonstrating the significant potential of integrating creative economy principles into the development of a sustainable food system.

At the SPPG Inspiradaya Peak Award Ceremony held at the Central Java Pavilion, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, East Jakarta, on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, Coordinating Minister for Human Empowerment (Menko PM) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar stated the importance of continuing community empowerment as a pathway toward fostering a growing and resilient new economic system.

“I am certain that building Indonesia can begin from the SPPG kitchens. We build Indonesia through an economic ecosystem created creatively, innovatively, profitably, and empowering communities. It is impossible for such an ecosystem not to be profitable, because an economic ecosystem must be established there,” said the Coordinating Minister.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, who attended the event, conveyed that strengthening local food value chains is directly relevant to creative economy development, particularly through the culinary sector and community-based creative entrepreneurship.

“Creativity and community empowerment always move hand in hand. Efforts to deliver equitable nutrition services must be supported by an ecosystem that leverages local potential—from products to the creative actors behind them,” said the Deputy Minister.

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed support in the form of knowledge facilitation, network strengthening, and assistance for MSMEs and communities involved in public nutrition services.

“We believe that food security relies not only on production, but also on the ability of communities to create added value from local wisdom. Ecosystems like this will strengthen the creative economy as a growth engine at the grassroots level,” she added.

This year’s SPPG Inspiradaya program recorded wide participation from various regions of Indonesia. Following socialization, portfolio review, and interviews, 20 SPPG units were selected as award recipients and designated as national role models. They were recognized for demonstrating comprehensive socio-economic empowerment, from local food utilization to strategic partnerships with MSMEs, cooperatives, and villages.

The event organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Empowerment also featured the “MBG Local Menu Banquet,” presenting regional culinary specialties created through collaboration among the 20 SPPG units. Beyond serving as a form of appreciation, this activity highlighted the economic value of local food and its role in strengthening Indonesia’s culinary identity. Several data points presented by the Deputy for Community Empowerment of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Specific Areas illustrated the program’s significant scale of impact.

As of 8 December 2025, a total of 17,084 SPPG units are operating, involving 854,000 workers and serving more than 45 million beneficiaries. In addition, the program supports 4,792 cooperatives, 675 village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), and more than 33,000 MSMEs. The Ministry of Creative Economy sees substantial potential for creative economy integration within the development of SPPG, particularly through the culinary, visual communication design, and craft subsectors to enhance packaging, storytelling, and local food branding.

Cross-ministerial collaboration also presents opportunities to expand innovation and improve nutrition service standards that are adaptive and inclusive. Through its presence at the 2025 SPPG Inspiradaya Awards, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the role of the creative economy in community development.
